TWO FOR ONE WITH SECOND GENERATION STAMPING

My cards today were super quick and easy to make. I started out with the idea for the card on the left then thought I could use the leftover ink from the first stamp for another card. When you stamp the image a second time without inking it up it's called second generation stamping. I've done it on many occasions on the same card but this time I decided to make the second card all done with second generation stamping.

This first card is first generation stamping.

I wanted to stamp some blobs onto my card then add something over top so I used the images meant to go over the tree trunks from the Fun Forest Stamp Set to make the blobs. I love using stamps in a way they weren't intended.
I used the little 'confetti' stamp from the Party Like It's Stamp Set to stamp and Midnight ink to add the party feel to the card.
I cut both panes using the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Die set and added them to some colored card stock I found in my stash that matched using craft foam.

This next card is all second generation stamping.

The sentiment is the same for both cards. It's from the Fun Forest Stamp Set and embossed with white on black card stock and added with more craft foam.

Which one is your favorite?

IT'S A PATTERN PARTY!

How many patterns can you have on a card before it's too many?
As many as you want!

I'm comfortable with a lot of patterns on a card if the colors are the same. Typically a card like this one would stress me out to the point that I would have to simplify it and add some white space. But for some reason this card makes me smile. I think it's because the ink colors are from one collection so they are meant to work together.

I started this card by ink blending Serene and Sparkling Berry inks onto the front of a slimline card base using the Just Plaid Slimline Die.
Next I did some direct to paper with all 4 of the new Beach Retreat inks onto some white card stock and die cut a bunch of candles. I stamped the patterns on them using the same ink color as the candle for a tone on tone look which also helps with the patterns not being overpowering. I die cut the Party Word Die twice. I added ink to one set of letters and layered them onto the white letters. Next I stamped the flames using Shea Butter ink, cut them out with the coordinating die and layered them onto a black piece of card stock cut with the same die.
I adhered everything directly to the card base then used a clear sparkle pen to add some shine to the flames.

Looking at the card now I may go back and add a few sequins. Would you add them?

MORE COLORING WITHOUT COLORING & SIMPLE TIPS TO TAKE YOUR CARDS UP A NOTCH

I recently shared a card about coloring without coloring here and thought it would be fun to do it some other colors and take it up a notch.

These are the two cards that I've made - so far. Now I'm thinking they'd be fun in a rainbow of colors so I may have to make that too.

I made both of these cards the same way I made the first one. You can see the instructions HERE. Today I'm sharing with you simple tips to take your cards to the next level.

I used Candied Apple and Carved Pumpkin Mini Distress Inks for the first one,

and Fossilized Amber and Hickory Smoke for the next one.

Embossing the sentiments onto black card stock with white embossing powder is a quick and easy way to take your cards up a notch.

Using black card stock for the panel and/or the base elevates the 'notch factor' in your card making.
Also adding the panel with craft foam for dimension is another tip. I love one layer cards but sometimes all you have to do is pop up one layer and that totally changes it.

Using sequins, especially ones that sparkle is my last tip on elevating your cards. They are a quick and easy way to add some glitz and glam.

SHAKE IT UP!

I'm shakin' it up today with a shaker card. I started by die cutting a 4 x 5 1/4" panel 3 times with the Party Word Die and added a sheet of acetate to the back. Next I added ink to the 3 frames that were cut from the panel and adhered them back into their spots on the panel. I inked up the middle pieces of the p's & the a's and adhered them to the acetate as well.

Next I loaded up the back of the panel with pieces of craft foam going around the edges and around each of the words making 3 separate pockets for sequins.
I swiped some Merlot ink around the edges of the front of the card base, loaded up the 3 pockets with sequins and adhered the card base to the back of the panel.

I finished the card with a simple sentiment stamped with Merlot ink and a few die cut stars inked up with all the same ink colors. I added a little glitter to the stars with a clear sparkle pen and this card is done.

Now to spend a few minutes playing with it.

MAKE A WISH!

Even though it looks like there's a lot going on for this card it came together really quickly.

I started with the background piece. I repeatedly stamped one of the sentiments from the Make a Wish stamp set over a 4 x 5 1/4" panel using Serene and Mint to Be inks. I used a blending brush to blend Serene ink around the edges and added it directly to a white card base.

Next I stamped the Scribbles Background Stamp with embossing ink onto a 4 x 5 1/4" panel and heat embossed it with Halo Embossing powder. Next I blended Mint to Be ink over the whole piece then cut a circle from it. I cut off one little edge and added them to the first panel like you see in the pic using craft foam for the larger piece.

The candles are cut from the Black Tie Gala Paper and adhered directly to the circle. The flames are stamped with Shea Butter ink and adhered directly to the lower panel. The sentiment is stamped with Midnight ink with some Serene ink blended around the edges and added with craft foam.

PARTY, PARTY, PARTY, PARTY

I started with an idea for one card but ended up with 4.

For this first card I stamped out a lot of the larger candle using Sparkling Berry ink then stamped the patterns using Merlot ink. I stamped the flame using Shea Butter ink then used the coordinating dies to cut them all out. I adhered them all to a panel that I stamped with the Scribble Grid Background Stamp & heat embossed with white embossing powder. Next I cut the Party Word Die out of the center of the candles & a white piece of card stock & adhered the panel to a white card base. I inlaid the white party frame into the candle piece, inked up the letters with Merlot and Sparkling Berry & set those back in then added back in the middle of the p & the a. I stamped a simple sentiment from the Make a Wish Stamp Set with Merlot & added it with craft foam. A little glitter pen finishes this card.

On this next card I adhered the frame leftover from the party Die in the first card to a panel cut with the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Die set. I inked up some card stock with Merlot ink then ran it through my die cutting machine with the Party Word Die. I added the letters into their spot on the panel then stamped the word let's from the Party Like It's Stamp set with Midnight ink. I added the panel to the card base with craft foam.

For this next card I used the letters from the first card and adhered them to another set of letters inked with Merlot ink. I adhered them to a panel embossed using the Scattered Circles Stencil & white embossing powder. I added a simple sentiment stamped with Merlot ink then added the panel to a white card base with craft foam.

For this last card I added the frame from the Merlot inked piece to a white card panel, filled it with white letters and the centers of the p & a inked with Merlot. I added the rest of the sentiment with Midnight Ink and a few die cut stars. I adhered it to a white card base with craft foam and that completes the 4th card.

ADDING COLOR WITHOUT COLORING

This started out as an A2 size card. I began with a piece of white card stock and the balloons from the Yay Gifts! Stamp Set from Catherine Pooler Designs. I used the Twisted Citron and Broken China Distress mini inks and swiped them repeatedly on an angle across the paper until I had enough to stamp the balloons on. I stamped the balloons with Midnight ink then die cut them with the coordinating die. Doing it this way you don't get the white frame around the image you would from coloring each balloon in individually then die cutting but I didn't want to spend time coloring today so this is how I add color without coloring.

I changed my mind to wanting to make a slimline card and repeated the process again making another set of balloons. I cut a little off one of the balloons so I could piece them together.

I glued them onto a piece of white card stock then used the stitched rectangle die from Catherine Pooler Designs Post This Slimline Die set to cut the panel. Next I stamped the balloon strings and the sentiment with Midnight ink. I cut out the sentiment with the coordinating and added it directly to the panel then added the panel to the card base with some craft foam.
To finish the card I used Persian Green (No.033), Light Green (No.041) and Light Gray (No.091) to add a little dimension to the card. I did small flicking motions with the marker - no blending of any kind.

This card came together really quickly. I think I'll make a few of these and switch out the colors so I have a few in my stash when I need them.

I'm playing along with the following challenges:

Color Hues Challenge #22

YOU'RE A REASON TO CELEBRATE!

I really LOVE this sentiment! I think it's a great idea to send a card to someone for no other reason that to say you appreciate them. And this sentiment form the Make a Wish Stamp Set is perfect for that.
I inked up a slim line card base with Twilight ink by swiping the pad directly onto the paper. I didn't cover the whole thing - just the portions that would be seen. Next I cut a piece of the star patterned paper from the Pop The Bubbly Patterned Paper pack and added it to the card base with craft foam leaving room for the sentiment.

I stamped the sentiment with Midnight ink then I stamped the candles with Merlot ink. I chose not to add any patterns to the candles since the paper is busy enough. I cut them out with the coordinating die then added them to the card with craft foam. Next I stamped the flame with Shea Butter ink, cut them out with the coordinating die and added them with craft foam as well.

Now to get this card in the mail.

IT'S RELEASE DAY FOR MAKE A WISH COLELCTION

    Today's the day!

The Make a Wish Collection from Catherine Pooler Designs is in the shop at 9am EST today!

I've been having a blast with this release. I think I made the most cards for this release than any other.

I have a simple slimline card to share with you today using the following new products:

- Make a Wish Stamp Set

-Make a Wish Die Set

- Serene Ink

- Merlot Ink

- Sparkling Berry Ink

I started with the Post This Slimline Die and cut the two panels. I adhered the Postage Stamp one directly to the card base and did some ink blending on the stitched edge on. I started by masking off the area for the sentiment, covering it with Serene ink using a blending brush then stamping the sentiment with Merlot ink.

Next I masked off the sentiment and blended Daydream ink below and Sparkling Berry above. Next I blended Shea Butter from the top of the panel down to meet the Sparkling Berry. I added the panel to the card base with craft foam.
I die cut the candles from the Black Tie Gala Patterned Paper, added them with craft foam then die cut the flames. I inked them up with Shea Butter ink, added some sparkle from a glitter pen and added them to the card with craft foam.

With all the fun ink colors and patterned paper that Catherine has the possibilities for this card are endless.

***I've linked to everything I used below but the new products won't go live until 9am EST today***
