Coffee and Friends...

...make the perfect blend!

Not for me though - the only thing coffee I enjoy is a chocolate bar called
'Coffee Crisp'. I'm a dedicated chai tea drinker - I'm enjoying a big cuppa
one as we 'speak'.

In honor of National Coffee Day yesterday I made a card. I had planned
to use coffee grounds on my card but that didn't turn out the way I thought
it would so I just used the coffee beans.

I paper pieced the coffee cups together - I love how they turned out. The
hardest part of this card was placing the coffee beans - I just wasn't
sure where to place them.

It's Time to Celebrate!

My card today was inspired by a card Catherine Pooler made for
StampNation. Catherine is an amazing lady with an incredible amount of talent
who has created a wonderful site for stampers from all over the world
to visit and share our love of stamping.
If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it!

The challenge this week at CAS on Sunday is to make a celebration card
using sequins. This card is for my Mom's birthday which is today and
we are driving down to celebrate with her this weekend.
I've had some Tim Holtz distress ink sitting on my desk just waiting
to be played with so I pulled them out for this card.
The sequins are white and clear and add a touch of sparkle to the card which
looks wonderful in person but unfortunately doesn't show as well in the picture.

card stock: whisper white
stamp sets: Petite Petals,
The BIg The Bold and The Happy (Winnie and Walter)
ink: memento black
Tim Holtz distress inks: frayed burlap, mustard seed, picked raspberry,
peacock feathers, spiced marmalade, peeled paint
punch: petite petals
embellishments: Tim Holtz layering stencils, basic pearls, sequins

A Little Kindness...

Sorry I haven't been around for the last week.  I
went back to work this week after a long 3 months off.  I'm thrilled to
be back but I have to say that I'm having a hard time settling back into a
routine. I think I'm finally figuring things out.  I even spent some time in
my craft room today - it's always a good day when that happens.

When I saw the challenges at colourQ and retro sketches I couldn't
wait to put them together on this card.

I really love the sketch that retro sketches has this week. I think it's
one that I will be using a lot - so many possibilities.

I struggled with the placement of the flowers on this card. Although green is not
one of the colors in the challenge I really felt that the card needed it.
Once I added the leaves and the pearls, I felt that it was complete.

card stock: crumb cake, night of navy, whisper white, old olive
stamp set: kinda eclectic, flower shop, petite petals
ink: crumb cake, night of navy, tangerine tango, daffodil delight
punches: pansy, petite petals, bitty butterfly, bird builder, corner rounder
embellishments: basic pearls

Christmas in the Heart & a winner

It's been a few days since I've been able to participate in any challenges but
today I had a day at home to play, finally - YAY!!

I combined two Christmas Challenges with a color challenge for this one.
Tis' The Season - sketch challenge
Merry Monday - theme challenge
Color Throwdown - color challenge

It took me a little while to wrap my head around the colors and how I
could make them work on a Christmas card.
I decided to use the Lullaby DSP from Stampin' Up! as it had the colors
and the piece with the triangles made me think of the Festival of Trees
stamp set.
This is not your typical Christmas card but after I was done I decided I
really liked it!

And now for the winner of the one month StampNation membership from the
Housewarming Party to celebrate Catherine Pooler's new blog is....

My goal when I started this blog was to post something every day.
Lately I haven't been able to do that - these last few weeks have been
a little crazy. I've been spending hours daily on the picket line - it's
amazing how exhausting that is. I'm just now getting over a bout of
food poisoning - not fun!

I want to send a big THANK YOU!! and a shout out to the following blogs;

Today I was going back over some card challenges that I've entered
and was thrilled to find that a card I had made was chosen as the
shooting star over at Tis' the Season.
Click here to see the card.

I was also thrilled to see that this card was chosen for an honorable mention

Then I came across  this show stopper award. The theme was lovely leaves
and since fall is my favorite time of year I was eager to play along with the
challenge. Click here to see the card  that was chosen as one of the show
stoppers at Curtain Call

This card was chosen for an honorable mention at Colour Me...! The
challenge was to use Daffodil Delight and neutral. Yellow has never been
one of my favorite colors to work with and something I've challenged
myself to use more of so when I saw this challenge, I jumped on it.

If you haven't checked out these blogs yet I definitely recommend that you do.
The design teams for these blogs and the people that participate in the
challenges are some very talented people.

Thank you to all that visit my blog and leave me such lovely comments.
I read and appreciate each and every one of them and each and
every one of you!!!

Black or White?

This is my second post for today. I've been having fun this
morning making cards for different challenges.
This card is for the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches
and a cue card challenge at CASology

This card didn't turn out like I envisioned it. I think it might look better
on a white card base. I'm off to try it out...

Here it is in white - not a great pic though - shadows :(

I like the white card base better - which do you prefer?

The 3's that I used are:
3 butterflies, 3 tiny pearls and
3 layers (card base, stamped layer and raised butterflies)

card stock: whisper white, basic black
stamp sets: clearly for you, happy congratulations
ink: memento black, baked brown sugar, versamark
embellishments: gold embossing powder, basic pearls

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Oh What Fun!!

This image just screams 'FUN' to me.
I combined two challenges for this card. The sketch challenge
at Clean & Simple with the 'Transportation' theme at Merry Monday

What could be cuter than penguins on a sled?

If you haven't checked out these challenges yet, I highly recommend them.

Colour Me Retro

Today is one of 'those' days. I haven't been able to get
my act together - I've been late to everything today. Time for a cuppa
chai tea and some quiet stamping time.

I love the color challenge at Colour Me...! this week. Coastal Cabana
and Hello Honey with a neutral. I chose to pair them with Crumb Cake and
Whisper White.  The sketch at Retro Sketches this week was intriguing to
me because it was a square card and that is not something I ever do.

I am loving my Bordering Blooms stamp set from Stampin' Up! It's so versatile.
I've been using it for so much more than borders on a card.

I didn't have any dsp left with those colors so I made my own by using
two of the border stamps to create the background - I love how it
turned out. I did have some hello honey colored cardstock and dsp. I
combined that with some crumb cake and used my Autumn Accents die
to make some leaves. I crumpled them up and sponged them up a little,
tied them with some baker's twine, stamped a greeting with coastal
cabana and then called it a day.

Time now for another cuppa chai!

Hello Fall!

Fall is my favorite time of year!
When I saw that these three challenges all had fall as their theme,
I knew right away that I would be participating.

I used the Autumn Accents die from Stampin' Up! and some fall colored
card stock and die cut a bunch of leaves and one acorn. I crumpled them all up,
sponged the edges and tied them together with some linen thread. The button
was already sitting on my desk with the bow just waiting to be used. This
seemed like the perfect card to use it on.

Be sure to stop by each challenge blog and check out all the
amazing cards that are there.

I'm Back...

I'm back with my second post for today.
I really wanted to play along in the Tis' The Season challenge.
The challenge was to use turquoise, black and silver on a Christmas
card. I thought that was so unique that I had to try it. I decided to combine
it with the sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch!

I had some white lace that I really wanted to use but I didn't think it would
stand out on a white card base so I decided to use black. Black is not an
easy color for me to work with and I knew that would be a challenge.

This card took me a few days. I'd play with it then set it aside only to come
back later or the next day and make changes and more changes. This
morning I finally figured it out and am happy with how it turned out. You'd think
with the sketch and the colors already picked for me that I would've had an
easier time with it.
I am happy with how it turned out in the end.

I didn't realize until now that there was an ornament in the inspiration
photo. I used the exact same one on my card.

card stock: whisper white, basic black
stamp sets: Delightful Decorations, Festival of Trees
ink: tempting turquoise, versamark
embellishments: silver embossing powder, silver 1/8" ribbon,

Birthday Blooms

I got 9 hours sleep last night!!! That's unheard of for me.
I am energized and ready to go!!

I made this card for the Colour Me...! challenge.

When I first saw this challenge I wasn't sure what to do. You all know
that I'm not a big fan of yellow. I have been trying to use it more and it
is growing on me but I wasn't sure what to do for the challenge.

Yesterday I got a package in the mail...yup... new stamps!!! YIPPEE!!
I ordered the Bordering Blooms from Stampin' Up! thinking it can
be used for more than just borders on a card. I knew right away that
I wanted to use it on this challenge. The individual flowers on one of the
border stamps fit perfectly into a punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes punches.
I paired those with the Petite Petals - also from Stampin' Up!
I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

When I first started making cards, I NEVER did CAS ones. All that white
space made me panic - it screamed at me 'you're not done!!'.  But lately
that's my 'go to' style and I'm loving it!  You'll still be seeing all styles of cards
on my blog as I love them all and would never be able to give up one
for the other...completely.

Monday Monday...

I combined two challenges for this one card. The Mojo Monday sketch
challenge and the Merry Monday Christmas  card theme challenge. This
week the theme is to include a gift or present on your card.
I instantly thought of the song by the Mamas and the Papas called
Monday Monday and I've been singing it ALL night - I do like that song.

I'm not a fan of this card and I wasn't going to show it but in the end I decided to.
There are things I would change about it but the reason I do these challenges
is to take myself out of my comfort zone and this one did just that. It's all
that dsp - and those bows - they don't work for me - I probably will change it
up some but for now - here it is.

card stock: whisper white, early espresso
dsp: season of style
stamp set: Christmas Messages
big shot: circle framelits
embellishments: cherry cobbler baker's twine,

Back to Stamping!

I love September!!! Fall is so beautiful!!

The kids are back at school - sadly though, not this year. The teacher's
dispute has me back on the picket line instead of in the class room. I am a
Education Assistant by day and a stamper by night.

September is also when I start up stamping classes again. I take the summer
months off from classes - not from stamping - just from classes. Last night
I held my first one and we had so much fun! I haven't laughed that much
in a long time! My husband even commented on it when I came upstairs.

Here are just two of the cards that we made last night.

These were both super quick and easy - great for mass producing.
The second card would also be good for a thinking of you card, sympathy card,
miss you card, anniversary card - anything you want!

StampNation Inspiration

As some of you know, I've been struggling with my 'mojo' recently. So
yesterday I decided to spend some time on StampNation.
If you haven't heard of StampNation, you seriously need to go and check it
out, seriously, you do. And if you do know what I'm talking about then you know
how inspiring, motivating, encouraging and supportive everyone there is.  It's
the perfect place to get your 'mojo' up and running!!

The following 4 cards I made yesterday after I visited StampNation. One of the
amazing DT ladies, Ally, has been doing tutorials on how to use sketches. Over the
month of August she presented 4 awesome tutorials with 4 different sketches and
some amazing cards. Of course she encouraged us to try it out and share our work so
I decided it was time to play along.

Except for the first card, these were challenging for me. I don't use a lot of dsp
on my cards but it's something I've been trying to do more of. These sketches
seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Where do you go when you are looking for some 'mojo'?

I want to send out a big HELLO and WELCOME to my new subscribers and a
big THANK YOU to all who visit and leave comments. I appreciate each and
every one of you!!

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
