Aged to Perfection!

I was clearing out some files on my computer the other day and came across this card and
don't believe I've shared it with you yet.
If I'm wrong - oops.

I remember when I made this card that I was wishing I had some wine themed paper, but I didn't. What I did have were a bunch of smaller stamps from a set called Aged To Perfection by Fiskars that I thought would make a great background paper.
I randomly stamped them on a piece of white cardstock that was cut bigger than I needed and cut it size when I was done. Make sure to rotate the images as you stamp - unless you want all the images in the same direction because that would look good too.
Next I grabbed some Stampin' Blend markers (I'm pretty sure that's what I used - it's been a while - but any of your
coloring markers will work for this) and did some simple, quick coloring. I stamped the little sentiments in and about the images making sure to keep the 'it's your day' sentiment upright.
The sentiment is stamped with versamark, heat set with white embossing powder and then cut out with an oval die.
I added the black & white strips of washi tape to some white cardstock and then layered everything onto a cherry cobbler card base.

You can make your own designer paper to match any and all of your needs by using this technique. It's a great way to stretch your stamping supplies too.

Masculine Monday #75

When I started doing Masculine Mondays I wasn't sure how long it would last because masculine cards can be a struggle. But I've managed to have 75 posts - so far.  While they haven't been weekly like I originaly planned I have been fairly consistant and I hope they have helped to inspire you with your masculine cards.

There are days that ideas are just poppin out of my head and other days when there are none. This happens no matter what kind of card I want to make.  When this happens I highly recommend using a sketch and/or keeping things pretty clean and simple. You can always add to an idea but it's pretty hard to pull things away at times.

For this weeks card I went fairly clean and simple. I stamped the boots from the Country Livin' stamp set from Stampin' Up onto the bottom center portion of a piece of whisper white cardstock that was cut to 4 x 5 1/4". I then covered  the boots with some masking paper and then stamped the guitar from the same stamp set. Remove the masking paper and the guitar 'magically' appears to move to be behind the boots. Love how that works!
I used a blender pen to lightly add some color using Catherine Pooler inks.
I layered a piece of Wood Textures Designer Paper from Stampin' Up onto a piece of white cardstock to make it stronger and then cut out the center portion with a stitched rectangle die to make a frame. I added that over the stamped image with some craft foam, added that to the card base and then added a simple sentiment to the top.

And now I have another card to add to my stash.
You could change up the image to be a baseball glove and ball, a fishing rod and tackle box, a soccer ball and cleats, gardening tools and boots, tacos and a beer... The ideas are endless - just make it personal to the person you are making the card for and have fun with it.

Staying on Track

I decided I needed a way to track my weight loss and I'm hoping if
have a fun way to keep track of it that I might stay more focused.
I searched around on Pinterest and found quite a few ideas that I liked
so I combined a few and came up with this one.

I started by sketching out an idea in pencil and then going over it with a black Micron pen.
Next I used a few Tombow markers to add some color and some shading.
Pretty simple right?

I've discovered after doing a few pages that I like to keep things pretty clean and simple in my planner. That kind of surprises me actually. I thought I would do more stamping in it than I actually do. I see other peoples pages that are full of bright colors and lots of stamping and think 'I love that!' but when I create a page I keep it pretty simple.

I put a few tabs in the back of my Canvo for pages like this and for other things that I want to keep track of but don't want mixed up with my weekly and monthly spreads. I've got addresses, passwords, ideas for classes and clubs and videos (yes, I'm going to start doing more videos), and I have ideas for more things I want to track.

This is by far the best planner that I've ever used. I can change it up from day to day, week to week, month to month and make it personal to me. The paper quality is incredible and the size is perfect. I pretty much take it with me wherever I go.
It makes me happy :)

Fun With Stampin' Up!

Some days the ideas flow and other days there aren't any.
On days when the ideas just aren't happening I like to use a sketch as a
starting off point. Sometimes the card ends up just like the sketch and other times it's nothing like the sketch.
I love sketches for that reason - they are great for jump starting the creativity.

I used a sketch from StampNation to jumpstart my card today. We're celebrating StampNation's birthday with a month long celebration of challenges and tutorials.  My card today was inspired by one of the challenges.

I kept it really simple and let some retired designer paper do most of the work for me. The grouping of flowers is also very simple - I used dies from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits for the white piece and the leaves. The main flower is from Swirly Bird stamped with Daydream Ink from Catherine Pooler Designs (probably my favorite color ever) and cut it out leaving a thin white border. The sentiment is from Sunshine Sayings and kept really simple as well.

I love how this card is full of pattern and color and yet it's clean and simple too.

Rainbows at The Card Concept

This week's challenge at The Card Concept is full of color and fun.
Check out the inspiration photo below.

The rainbow was probably the quickest one I've ever made. I used the new Minis from Catherine Pooler Designs...

...and swiped the ink pads across the paper in the same order as the cupcakes. I used the Stitched Stackable Rectangle Dies from Lawn Fawn to cut out the rainbow piece. I used the Journaling Alpha Dies from Neat & Tangled to cut out the word SWEET and then printed the rest of the sentiment by hand.

The sentiment is from a song called Make It Sweet by Old Dominion. It's one of my favorites and I listen to it all the time lately.

How does this photo inspire you?
Check out the design teams cards HERE to see how they were inspired and I look forward to seeing your card in the gallery.

Changing My Habits!

I have a plan!
And my Habit Tracker is going to help me stick to my plan.
This is my Habit Tracker for February.

I made a Tracker for January and I started out strong but I tapered out. I think I lost interest in keeping track of things because I lost interest in the page.

What bothers me about this one is it's too small - lining up the habit with the date didn't always work - I would color in the wrong square and/or the wrong date. Too frustrating for me. So......

... when I came home from work yesterday I wasn't able to get out for my walk as I hurt my foot (ongoing issue) so I turned on Netflix, watched The Office and had some fun!
I spent some time setting up my Canvo for February. I really like how my tracker turned out and I'm excited to use it.

I made a square for each one and made the labels for each habit bigger - with my bad eyes that was a must! Then I added the dates for February, some shading, a title and some stamping.
It was a great way to spend some quiet time after a stressful day at work.

How do you track your habits?
Have you joined the world of Canvo-ing yet?

Here are a couple of links to other posts about the Canvo

For your convenience I've linked to all the Canvo products below and to the inks that I used. The icon on the left is to Maple Syrup Designs in Canada and the icon on the right is to Catherine's store in the United States.

Masculine Monday #74 - A Bottleful of Cheers

I used a sketch as my starting point for this weeks Masculine Monday card.

We're celebrating StampNations 11th birthday with a whole month of fun! Week one has a sketch challenge to inspire everyone and it's one that has so many possibilites.
I used some retired designer papers to create the background leaving a gap in the middle for the sentiment.
I stamped the bottle from Altenews Bottleful of Stamp set with Ink on 3 Fadeout ink onto watercolor paper. Next I used some Tim Holtz distress inks to watercolor the image and then cut it out with the coordinating die.
The label is cut from some more designer paper and stamped with the word CHEERS.
I tied some twine around the bottle and then added it to the card with craft foam.

This is a great way to use up all that designer paper that's piling up in our craft rooms.

I'm also playing along with Seize the Birthday this week.

Adoring You Stamp of Approval

Have you got yours yet?
There's still some Stamp of Approval Boxes available.
Below I've linked to both Catherine Pooler's store and for those of you in CANADA, I've linked to Maple Syrup Designs.

I've got one more card to share with you.
This one features the following:
- The Key Stamp set
- The Key Dies (Add-on)
- Love Note Background Stamp

I started by heat embossing all of the keys and locks with white embossing powder onto a piece of watercolor cardstock. Using Icing on the Cake, Midnight, Black Jack and Twilight inks I did some ink smooshing over top of the embossing. Next I inked the Love Note Background Stamp with Midnight ink and dabbed it around in small spots. I used the small dots in the Sweet Home Wreath Stamp Set and Midnight ink to add some more texture.
You can see how I made the keys HERE
I stamped the sentiment in Midnight, roughed up the edges and sponged them with some Icing on the Cake.

Adoring You is in the Shop!

This is one of Catherine Pooler's best releases yet!
Have you seen all the amazing cards that have been made with it?
You can check out the Blog Hop HERE, the Video Hop HERE and the Instagram Hop HERE

My cards today are from the Instagram Hop.
This first one features the following:
- Love Note Background Stamp
- Happy Together Stamp Set
- Happy Together Dies (Add-on)
- Sweet Home Wreath Stamp Set
- Sweet Home Wreath Dies (Add-on)

I started by stamping the background stamp with Black Jack ink onto some Mirrors card stock and then sponging the edges. The wreath is stamped with Lime Rickey ink and Twilight inks and cut out with the coordinating die. The birds are stamped with Midnight ink and cut out with the coordinating dies. I added the wreath with some craft foam for dimension.
I used a glitter pen to add a little shine to the blackbirds.
I love this card.
Because of all the coordinating dies this was such a quick and easy one to make.

This next card features the following:
- Backsplash dies (Add-on)
- Congratulations Sentiments Stamp Set

The Backsplash dies have 4 panels - 3 with detail and one plain. I ran the plain one through my big shot using Mirrors, Midnight and Sand Dunes card stock. I used one of the small images from the Congratulations Sentiments Stamp set to stamp an image in the center of each panel - the white one is heat embossed.
I liked how the border stamp was the same size as one of the Congratulations sentiments so I used them together.
I added one of the panels to the card with craft foam for dimension and added all of it to a Midnight card base.

This collection has been such a pleasure to create with.
Everything coordinates so well together and comes with coordinating dies which is awesome!!!

These tend to sell out fast so hurry on over to the SHOP to get yours!

A Pink Party at TCC

It's time for the first challenge of 2019 at The Card Concept and it's a party!
A Pink Party to be exact.

My clean and simple card was inspired by the colors, the black dotted plate with a little bit of gold inspired by the utensils.
I used the Balloon Celebration stamp set from Stampin' Up and inked up the balloons with Catherine Pooler's Party Dress, Be Mine and It's a Girl inks. The dots on the balloons are heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The rest is stamped with Catherine Pooler's Midnight ink.

Check out the rest of the DT's cards HERE and I look forward to seeing your project in the gallery.

I have three cards to share with you today.
This first one features the following:
- The Adore Die
- The Key Stamp Set
- The Key Dies (Add on)
- Sweet Home Wreath Stamp Set
- Sweet Home Wreath Dies (Add on)

I used the Adore Die to emboss with for the background piece. To do this open your multipurpose platform to tab 1 and layer a cutting plate, your die with cutting edge up, then paper, an embossing mat and another cutting plate and run this through your cutting machine. This is a great technique to get double duty from your dies.
I used some Twilight ink and a blender pen to create the shading and then added some sparkle with a Wink of Stella sparkle pen.

To make the keys I heat embossed 3 layers of silver embossing powder onto a piece of white cardstock. While the last layer was still warm I pressed key stamps into it so as to get an impression. When it was cool I cut them out with the coordinating dies and sponged some blackjack ink over them to help them look a bit aged.

The leaves are stamped with Eucalyptus and Green Tea ink and die cut with the coordinating dies.
Some twine and a sentiment finish this card.

My second card features the following:
- Love Note Background Stamp
- Happy Together Stamp Set
- Happy Together Dies (Add on)

This was a quick and easy card to make. I stamped the Love Note Background Stamp onto some Sand Dunes card stock with versamark ink then heat set it with white embossing powder. I sponged the edges with Icing on the Cake ink and added it to the card base.
I stamped the 'love you' part of the sentiment the same way onto some Midnight cardstock and cut it out with the coordinating die. I added this with some craft foam for dimension.
A little 'sure do' stamped in the bottom corner finishes this card.

My last card features the following:
- Backsplash Dies (Add on)
- Sweet Home Wreath Stamp Set
- Sweet Home Wreath Dies (Add on)

Keeping the dies together I ran the Backsplash Dies through my bigshot twice. Once with Mirrors cardstock -saving the panels for another card and once embossing the Backsplash Dies onto some white cardstock by following the same steps as in the first card above.
The sentiment is stamped onto the plain panel.  The flowers and stems are stamped and cut out with their coordinating dies and then arranged onto the bottom two panels.

I added a piece of acetate to the back of the Mirrors cardstock and then added that piece with craft foam making sure to line up the panels.
To finish this one off I added some twine and then added that to the card base.

Be sure to leave a comment at all the stops on the hop because Catherine is giving away two $25 Gift Certificate to use in her store. The winner will be announced on January 14th on Catherine's blog

Time to hop!

Catherine

Yes You Can!

I took a bit of a break from social media and my blog over the holidays. I visited a little but mostly I stayed away to spend more time with my family. I was feeling a little guilty about ignoring my blog as much as I did but then decided it was okay to take a break.
Sometimes you need a break from things and that's okay.

I was thinking about New Year's resolutions and decided against making any really specific ones.
What I decided to do this year is always tell myself

I have goals.
I have had some of the same goals for quite some time but always found a reason to set them aside because I would tell myself I couldn't do them.

Not this year.

This year my focus, my resolution, is to tell myself that I can do it. When I start doubting myself I'm going to say
YES YOU CAN!
I can achieve all the goals I've set out for myself because I'm worth it. I'm worth the time and effort that it will take.

And so are you!
Don't let negative talk stop you from what you want to achieve.
Make this the year you accomplish what you desire.
You can do it!

Yes You Can!
