AFTER THE SEASON

We all make Christmas cards until we don't think we can make any more.
But how many of us think about making cards for after the holiday season?
I never did until Catherine Pooler came out with this stamp.
It's called Enjoyed the Season and it was a freebie she gave out for a short time with your order.
I woke up with the idea for this card yesterday and quickly made it before I went to work.

I masked off the bottom part of the sentiment, inked up the top portion with Midnight ink. I removed the mask and inked up the bottom portion of the words with Midnight ink and the sprig of leaves with Grass Skirt ink and stamped it onto some white card stock. Next I inked up the season banner portion of the image with Rockin' Red ink and stamped it onto a scrap piece of white card stock, fussy cut it out and placed it in position with the rest of the sentiment.

Now, I'll be honest with you and say that those trees weren't part of my initial idea but I smudged some ink in a spot that needed to be covered. So I stamped some trees from the Christmas Tree Farm Stamp Set with Grass Skirt ink and cut them out with the coordinating die and then stamped the trunks with Icing on the Cake ink.
I added the trees, layered it onto a piece of Midnight card stock and then layered that with craft foam onto a card base that I stamped the Buffalo Plaid Background stamp on. I used Midnight ink but purposely didn't cover it completely because I wanted it to look a little aged.
I really like how this turned out. I think it looks much better with the trees so I'm glad I smudged some ink on it.

I hope you're inspired to do up some cards to thank people for sharing the holiday season with you. If you make some, tag me, I'd love to see them.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

FAVORITE CARD AND/OR CHRISTMAS TREE AT TCC

Hi Everyone!
For the last challenge of the year at The Card Concept we are giving you a choice. Share with us your favorite card that you've made this year or a picture of your Christmas tree.

I'm sharing one of my favorite cards I've made.

I chose this one for two reasons.
It was super fun to make (you can see all the details HERE) and because this
is my last challenge with the team I wanted to say 'For the record' I have had a blast. I have been a part of this team for 3 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have a lot on my plate right now and am needing to make some changes. I won't be gone completely though because you will definitely see me from time to time playing along with the challenges.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your cards and trees.

I also would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best for a
Happy and Healthy New Year!!!

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Howdy!

Erika posted a weekend color challenge for everyone at StampNation and it's full of my favorite colors - blues and greens - so I knew I was going to be playing along.
I used a few products from the Out West Release:
along with some other goodies I've listed below.

I did one of my, if not my all time favorite technique. Ink smooshing.
I started with a piece of watercolor paper that was cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I prepped it with some anti static powder, stamped the cacti with versamark ink and heat set them with white embossing powder.
Now for the fun part!
I smooshed some ink onto the a large stamping block, spritzed it with some water and then began pressing the stamped paper into the ink in small sections. I dried it with my heat gun in between each color.
I started with Seafoam, then moved on to Stone Blue, Daydream and finished with Juniper Mist.

I decided to cut the panel down so I could make two cards. I used a stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Die set to cut it out and blended some Juniper Mist ink around the edges. I layered it onto a piece of white card stock with just a hint of a border and then layered that piece onto a piece of card stock that I inked up with Juniper Mist again leaving just a hint of a border.

I stamped the Desert Diamonds Background stamp using Stone Blue ink onto a piece of white card stock and die cut it with the large stitched rectangle die from the Postage Stamp Die set. Using a blending tool I added some Juniper Mist ink around the edges and adhered it to a card base with craft foam. I added the cactus panel to the card with some craft foam.

The little flowers are stamped with Sugared Lavender and cut with the coordinating die. I adhered them to the card with some craft foam. The sentiment is from the Ways To Say Hey Die Set and after cutting the letters apart I adhered them directly to the panel.

I love the colors of this challenge - thanks Erika!!

WANNA HUG?

What's better than the Wanna Hug Stamp Set and the coordinating Wanna Hug Dies to make a card for someone who needs a hug?

I stamped the cacti with midnight ink, cut them out with the coordinating die and colored them in using a blender pen and some Seafoam ink. I inked up the stamp for the aloe plant by dragging it across the Seafoam ink pad just once and then stamping it and cutting it out with the coordinating die.
I stamped the pots with midnight ink. I didn't add any color to them because I wanted the plants to be the focus. I did stamp a couple little flowers using Sauna and Sugared Lavender ink and cut them out with the coordinating die.

I layered all the plants onto some card stock cut with the Canyon Mini Cover Plate Die and then layered that onto a piece of card stock cut with the rounded rectangle piece from the Merry Mini Cover Plate Die. I layered that onto a card base with craft foam as well as the plant and the pot in the middle.

I love all the white on this card paired with the b&w patterns and the textured background.
The very first gift my husband ever bought for me was a cactus plant 33 years ago. He knew I loved cacti - still do - that may be why I love this stamp set so much.

I am playing along with the following challenges:
Just Us Girls - anything goes

Happy Little Stampers - anything goes with dies

THE BEST CURE IS OUT WEST

Sometimes you just need a hug.
And what better bundle than the Wanna Hug Bundle from Catherine Pooler Designs to make a card with for someone who needs a hug.
Actually, truth be told, all three bundles from the Out West Release are amazing and would put a smile on anyone's face.

I have a quick and easy card for you today that uses the
My Kind Floral Stamp Set
and the
My Kind Floral Dies

I started with a piece of water color paper that was 4 1/4 x 5 1/2", a water brush and some Seafoam and Skylight inks. I squeezed the ink pad so as to get some ink into the lid and squeezed a little water from the water brush into the ink into the lid. You could use a block to do this but the lid works great as well. Next I painted some imperfect stripes onto the water color paper. When it was dry I cut a panel out using the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Die set.

I stamped some flowers and leaves from the My Kind Floral stamp set using Skylight, Seafoam, Sugared Lavendar and Juniper Mist and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I die cut a couple flowers from plain white card stock and only stamped the centers of them.
I stamped the sentiment with Juniper Mist ink and then arranged the flowers onto the card popping a couple of them up with craft foam for dimension. I attached the panel to a card base using craft foam.

I'm playing along with the following challenges:
Just us Girls - Anything Goes

and
Happy Little Stampers - Anything Goes with Dies

TODAY'S THE DAY!

That's Today!!
All the products from Catherine Pooler Designs Out West Release will be in the shop at 9am EST.

My card today uses the My Kind Floral stamps and dies along with the Wanna Hug stamps and dies.

I used Seafoam, Skylight and Sugared Lavender inks to stamp the border image on a white card panel. I then cut it with the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Dies.
Next I stamped the flowers and leaves with the same inks and stamped the pot with Twilight ink. I stamped the dots in the center of the flower with Midnight ink. I cut everything out with their coordinating dies.

I adhered the pot and the leaves directly to the card panel and used craft foam to adhere the flower.  I cut the sentiment up and stamped it on the stamped border pieces with Midnight ink.
I added the panel to the card base with craft foam for dimension.

Time to shop?
If you do order and use my links - THANK YOU and I'd love it if you'd leave me
a comment and let me know what your favorite thing from the release is.

If you're a StampNation member then today is the day for you! Early ordering for the Out West Release begins at Noon Eastern today (10th) - How cool is that! And for everyone else it's just one more sleep. Ordering begins for you on the 11th at 9am Eastern.

I've got another card to share with you today that uses products from the Wanna Hug Bundle - one of the three bundles that make up the Out West Release.

I started this card with embossing the Desert Diamonds Background stamp with versamark ink and then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I blended over top with Hot Tub, Stone Blue and Daydream inks. I love how they blend together. I layered it onto black card stock and then adhered it to a white card base.
I stamped the cactus with Midnight ink onto some Prickly Patterned Paper. I stamped the planter with Daydream ink and the little flower with Mandarin Spice ink. Next I cut them all out with the coordinating dies.

I stamped the sentiment with Midnight ink onto a small panel of white card stock that I layered onto some black card stock and then added the cactus with craft foam for dimension.

A CHRISTMAS CARD WITH THE WANNA HUG BUNDLE

I am LOVING this new release from Catherine Pooler Designs! I've been playing with the Wanna Hug Bundle and having a blast. Because it's almost Christmas I decided to make a Christmas card with a bunch of the products from the bundle.
But before I tell you about the card let me fill you in on some details you need to know.
The Release is called Out West and it hits the shop on Dec. 11th. SOON!
But if you're a StampNation member you don't have to wait that long because you can order on Dec. 10th. Early ordering is just one of the many perks of being a member.

I stamped the flowers and leaves from the My Kind Floral stamp set using Rouge, Shea Butter and Eucalyptus inks and cut them out with the coordinating dies.
I cut the Canyon Mini Cover Plate Die out of white card stock and set it inside the large frame from the Chalkboard Frame Dies. I used some scotch tape on the back to hold it together. I used some foam squares (lots of them) around the back of the frame and adhered it to a piece of white card stock that I cut with the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Dies and then layered that onto a white card base.

I cut a circle from the Circles Die set, adhered it to the top potion of the panel and then set about adhering all the flowers and leaves. Most of them are adhered directly to the circle but a few are adhered with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from The Man With The Bag Stamp set. I stamped it with Midnight ink and set it inside the small frame from the Chalkboard Frame Dies. I love the little bit of detail on those frames.

I mentioned the Wanna Hug Bundle but guess what? There are two other bundles - the Shine On Bundle and one that will be revealed later today.
There is a bit of a savings if you buy the bundle but if you don't want the bundle, don't worry because everything is available individually for purchase as well.

I am playing along with the following challenges:

Just Us Girls - anything goes

Happy Little Stampers - anything goes with dies

WANNA HUG BUNDLE - OUT WEST COLLECTION

Have you heard the news?
Catherine has a new release coming to the shop.
It's called OUT WEST and it's really fun!
It hits the shop on Dec. 11th BUT if you're a StampNation member then you get to order on Dec. 10th! Just one of the many amazing perks for being a member.

Did you see Catherine's reveal for the Wanna Hug Bundle she did on Thursday? When she showed us all the products I think I did a squeal when I saw all the cacti and those cute pots.

If you look closely you can see that the black piece is embossed. I used the Desert Diamonds Background stamp which is part of the Wanna Hug Bundle and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I love the tone on tone look. I cut the Canyon Mini Cover Plate Die (also part of this bundle) out of white card stock, layered it onto a solid piece of white card stock and put the aloe plant and pot on top of that. The plant looks a little splotchy but I did that on purpose. And how cute is that sentiment!

You can buy the bundle if you want and you get a bit of a savings. Don't want the whole bundle? No problem, everything is available individually for purchase as well.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

SCRAP'N STAMPS WHITE CHRISTMAS BLOG HOP

How's everyone doing getting those Christmas cards ready to mail? I still have a bunch to do but I'll get there. We've got a great theme for the hop at Scrap'n Stamp this month - white Christmas - and lots of inspiration for you as you'll see along the hop.

You should have arrived from Kia's blog but if not, don't worry because I've linked to everyone below.

For my card I used a few of the polar bears from My Favorite Things Polar bear Pals. It's a birthday themed set but by using a Christmas sentiment it's now a Christmas card.

I stamped them in black, colored the scarves with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers ( Light Blue No.036 and Light Green No.041) and the bears with some neutral gray Copics (N0, N2 and N6). I cut them out with the coordinating dies and layered them onto a panel that I cut with a stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn and 2 snow hills that I cut using the stitched hillside border dies also from Lawn Fawn. I layered that all onto a white card base with some craft foam for dimension.

This was a quick and easy card to make. I think I might make a few more and just change the colors of the scarves.

Now check this out
- A FREE GIFT -
but only while supplies last. No minimum purchase is required but you will have to pay the shipping costs.

Plus there will be one lucky winner of a $50 Gift Certificate to the Scrap'n Stamp Store so be sure to leave a comment at all the stops along the hop. This will increase your chances to win.

Now it's time to hop
(did you leave a comment?)

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AT THE CARD CONCEPT

I love the colors, the buffalo plaid, the red truck, the wreaths in the window, the brick on the wall, the rocking chair, the texture...
It's safe to say that I love the inspiration photo for this weeks challenge at The Card Concept
I decided to use the plaid, the colors and the trees (although I chose to do mine white) as the inspiration for my clean but layered card (or at least that's what I'm calling it).
I stamped the Buffalo Plaid background stamp onto white card stock using black ink and layered that onto a piece of dark red card stock. I tied some twine around the top and added the panel to a gray card base using craft foam.
I die cut 5 trees using a tree die that's been in my stash forever from white card stock and added them to the buffalo plaid piece popping one of them up with craft foam.
The sentiment is stamped with black ink onto white card stock and layered onto a piece of the dark red card stock and then adhered to the card.
All in all, this was a super easy card to make.
Check out this inspiration photo - I'd love to have a front porch like that.

Now it's your turn!
You can check out what the rest of the team came up with HERE and then I look forward to seeing your card in the gallery.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
