FIRST, ICE CREAM

The First Ice Cream stamp set from the August Club Canvo is soooo cute!! I haven't used it in my Canvo yet but I have made a couple of cards. This one uses the popsicle stamp and a lot of inks.

I stamped the images onto watercolor card stock with Midnight ink and then using a waterbrush I set about coloring them in. My first thought when I saw them was of an ice cream revel. They are chocolate coated ice cream and they are delicious! They were my favorite when I was a kid but I thought they'd look better in some bright and fun colors. After I colored them in I added a layer of sparkle using a clear sparkle pen from Spectrum Noir.

I die cut the birthday from the Instant Happy Dies 4 times and stacked them on top of each other for dimension. The Happy is from the Thoughtful Phrases stamp set. The stamp says Happy Anniversary so I covered up the Anniversary with a post it before inking it up. Just remember to remove the post it before stamping - I've made that mistake before.
I layered them onto some black striped paper for contrast.

USING TONIC STUDIOS GIN GLASS DIE LIKE A STAMP

I recently shared this card on a hop with Scrap'n Stamp Canada and someone asked me to do a video on how I made the colored in wine glass. Northenchica - this is for you :) The post for that card is here.

I take you through the process in the video below. All you need is the die of course, a fine tip marker, a few pencil crayons, some ink blending solution and a couple of ink blending stumps.

Here is the card I make in the video.

SLIMLINE DIES FROM CATHERINE POOLER DESIGNS - TODAY!!!!

Everyone has been going crazy for Slimline cards lately and it's easy to understand why. They're so much fun to play with. And guess what? Now you can get Slimline dies and stencils in the CP Designs shop.

Look at these cards Catherine made using the Rainbow Slimline Die. I love the pattern she added to each color of the rainbow. She used the Tropical Pursuit Stamp set to create the patterns which by the way is on sale right now.

I don't have any of the Slimline products but I did make a slimline card for you today and I can honestly say to make one like this I definitely think having the dies would make it so much easier and faster too.

LIVE LIFE IN FULL BLOOM

My card today uses a beautiful stamp set from the April, 2019 Club Sursee called Life in Full Bloom. I love the images and the sentiments too.

I chose to do some ink smooshing as it's such a fun technique to play with. I used Daydream, Sauna, Peppermint Scrub, Sangria and Sage ink colors and some watercolor card stock.

If you've never tried ink smooshing - you must! It's so easy. I start by choosing the colors I want to use. Next I grab a large stamping block and 'smoosh' one ink pad onto it. Spray some water onto it and then simply take your watercolor card stock and pounce it into the ink in a few spots. Dry it with your heat tool and either repeat the process if you want more of that color or clean off your stamping block and repeat the process with the next color. I suggest starting with the lightest color first and working your way up to the darkest.
When I was happy with what I had I made sure it was completely dry before I stamped my image. Before stamping I ran it through my die cutting machine using the large stitched rectangle frame in the Postage Stamp Dies. This gives it a little detail around the edge and helps to flatten it.

Since I was using watercolor paper I used my MISTI to stamp the image and the sentiment knowing I would have to stamp it a few times for good coverage. Once I had that I stamped it with embossing ink and then heat set it with clear embossing powder.

A few sequins and some patterned paper and this card is done.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This was a super fast card to make and with all the different colors that CP has you'll never run out of color combos to use.

I used Sauna, Seafoam, Skylight, Sangria and Peppermint Scrub. They're all Spa colors and some of my favorites. I used one of the circles from the Circles Dies to cut a mask and added it to the center of a white card stock panel cut to 4 x 5 1/4". Next I dragged the ink pads on the paper from the center out. I removed the mask and LOVED how it looked. It was at this point I decided to keep the card really simple and just stamp a sentiment with Midnight ink. I scattered some little stars fro the Motor City Sequin Mix around the card and called it done.

What color combo should I do next?
What color combo would you do?

WILD ABOUT YOU

I'm going to be honest with you. When I first saw the Born To Be Wild Stamp Set it didn't spark any interest in me BUT then I saw some cards made with it and I had to have it! I ordered it as soon as I could and it arrived the other day. I played with it last night and I'm so glad I ordered it. Those monkeys have my heart!

I grew up close to a zoo and whenever we went the first place I went to was to see the monkeys. I could watch them all day. I used to dream about having a monkey as a pet one day.

And check out that Safari Patterned Paper! All those pretty colors and patterns...so many card possibilities!

I used the large stitched rectangle from the Postage Stamp Dies and one of the Stitched Square Dies together to make the top layer. I sponged some Sand Castle ink around all the edges and then added some adhesive strips to the back. I added a piece of the striped patterned paper behind the opening and then added that to some kraft colored card stock that I had also sponged the edges of. I layered all that onto a white card base.

I used Sand Castle and Melon Ice inks for the bodies of the animals and then Icing on the Cake for the details. Those monkeys seriously make me smile.
The sentiment is stamped with embossing ink then heat set with white embossing powder.

Time to go play some more.

PARADISE FOUND MINIS INSTAHOP & GIVEAWAY

We're celebrating the upcoming release of the Paradise Found Mini Inks from Catherine Pooler Designs. These colors are absolutely GORGEOUS and among my favorites to play with. I mean really - just look at these colors!

A bunch of us got together for an Instagram Hop today. Have you checked it out? Someone will win a set of the Paradise Found Minis - click here for the details and to hop along.

I made two cards for the hop and they are both fall/winter themed.

This first one uses the Baby, It's Cold Outside stamps and dies. I stamped the mugs with midnight ink onto watercolor card stock and using some ink that I squished into the lids and  a water brush I colored them in leaving them darker at the top.

Next I stamped the whip cream topping and the straws. I used my Tombow Blender Pen to give the whrip cream some shading. I die cut everything out and then after stamping the sentiments I adhered them to my card panel and adhered the card panel to my card base with craft foam.

My second card uses one of my all time favorite Christmas stamps. Tis' the Season stamps and dies is a beautiful set that will never go out of style.

I used the Wild Things Background Stamp to create a background of falling snow. I stamped it with embossing ink and then heat set it with white embossing powder. It's a little difficult to see in the pics. I inked up the greenery with Green Tea ink and then using a sponge dauber I added some Eucalyptus ink to the bottom edges. I layered everything onto the snowy background using craft foam for the flower and also using craft foam to add the snowy layer to the card base.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAKER

I went in to my craft room yesterday and pulled out a couple of things that haven't seen much love lately and decided to just play.

I grabbed the Sum Sum Summertime Patterned Paper, the I Scream You Scream Stamps and coordinating dies, the Instant Happy Die and some sequins and set about to make a card.

I started by choosing which papers I'd use. My supply of this pack is getting low but the good thing about a pack is you know they all go together. I used the large rectangle die from the Postage Stamp Dies to cut a piece from the pink word paper. I adhered that to the card base on an angle.
Next I cut the Instant Happy Die frame from the polka dot paper and I cut 4 (maybe 5) from some white card stock to layer together. I would typically use craft foam to create dimension but I wanted the HAPPY to have layers under it so it wasn't floppy and the letters are too thin for craft foam. I die cut the word portions of the die from black card stock as well and using my Bearly Arts Glue with the fine tip I added them to the panel.
I layered all the white frames together and before adding the patterned frame on top I added a window sheet. I filled it with a mixture of sequins and then added the third patterned paper to the back.
I adhered the shaker piece to the card then added the ice cream sundaes that I colored using my Tombow Blender pen - great pen by the way - a few sequins and then I literally spent about 5 minutes shaking the card. Seriously, shakers are so much to play with no matter your age.
