The Card Concepts Cacti Cluster Challenge

It's time for the last challenge at The Card Concept before we take a break for the summer. I hope you all have something amazing planned - a vacation with family, a visit with an old friend, some time time at the beach, a wild adventure or maybe some down time with a book and a glass of wine. Whatever your plans are I hope you enjoy them.

When I saw the inspiration photo I was instantly reminded of the first plant my husband ever gave me.
It was a cactus and I loved it.

My clean simple card was inspired by the cluster of succulents and all the woodgrain you see in the inspiration
photo at the bottom.

I used a mini stamp set from Flora and Fauna called Stuck on You. First I stamped the plant you see front and center and then I covered it with a mask. Next I stamped the plant on either side of that one and then covered each of them with a mask and then stamped the plants you see in the background. I removed all the masks to see my cluster of plants.
I used my Prismacolor pencils to add some simple coloring to the plants and pots and then smudged a little gray pencil crayon under the pots to ground them. The sentiment is stamped with versamark ink onto black card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder from WOW.

I adhered all of this with some craft foam to a Sand Dunes card base that I had stamped with the Woodgrain Background stamp from Catherine Pooler Designs and some Sand Castle ink. I blended some Icing on the Cake ink over top to darken the whole piece up. Before adhering the panel I did add a little Icing on the Cake around the edges.

I Scream You Scream...

...FOR ICE SCREAM!

When I first saw the new release from Catherine Pooler Designs I couldn't make up my mind what I like the most. At first it was the sunflowers

then I thought 'oh but look at that ice cream truck!'

To see the two cards above, click HERE.

And lets not forget about those little ice cream cones and popsicles and that adorable paper.

To see how I made the card above, click HERE

My card today features the ice cream and popsicles from the I Scream You Scream Stamp Set, the Sum Sum Summertime Patterned Paper along with the Funky Alphabet Stamp set.

I began by stamping out a bunch of the ice cream cones and popsicles and coloring them to match the ones on the patterned paper and then cut them out with the coordinating dies. I had a strip of the diagonal striped paper leftover from another project and decided it would be a great way to break up the busyness of the other paper. Plus it worked out to be a great spot to stamp those letters from the Funky Alphabet set.
Also sitting on my desk left over from another card were a bunch of those little die cut circles. I adhered all the treats to them with some craft foam and while I was trying to figure out how I was going to place them on the card I decided to
use the large bubbled edge die from the Tags Etc Die set to add some fun to the papers edges. I used a black fine marker to draw the lines between the two patterns, added some black and white twine and then added that to a white panel cut the same size. Then I added that to a card base and this card is finished.

Now I don't know about you but I'm really craving some ice cream.

Hello Summer Release Dude Card

I've been having so much fun with this release!
Have you checked out the BLOG HOP and the VIDEO HOP yet?
There's prizes!!!

I decided to make a masculine card to share with you today featuring the new Funky Alphabet Stamp Set
and the I Scream You Scream Stamp Set.

I started by stamping the Canvas Grunge Background Stamp with Twilight ink onto a piece of Premium White Card Stock. Next I used the I Scream You Scream Stamp set and stamped the Stay Cool sentiment with Midnight ink and the ice cream, popsicles and music notes with Black Jack ink and adhered the panel to a Midnight card base.
I stamped the letters in Midnight ink onto a piece of Sum Sum Summertime Patterned Paper and tore one edge. I added it to a piece of Midnight Card stock and tore one edge of that too and then adhered that with craft foam to the card base.
Typically I wouldn't put sequins on a masculine card but I decided the star sequins from the Charleston Sequin Mix were perfect to finish this card off.

You can see all the products from the release HERE.

Catherine Pooler Designs Hello Sunshine Release Blog Hop

I LOVE THIS RELEASE!!
It's time for a new release over at Catherine Pooler Designs. Some of my favorite designers and myself are hopping along and sharing our projects that we created using products from the new release.

The Hello Sunshine release is a mix of fun images, papers and sentiments as well as some beautiful flowers and sentiments. The background dies are gorgeous - it's all amazing!

My first card features the Right Angle Cover Plate, I Scream You Scream stamps and dies and the Sum Sum Summertime Patterned Paper.

Instead of using the Right Angle Cover Plate as a die I embossed with it. You do this by making your sandwich for your die cutting machine in this order: die cutting plate, embossing mat, paper, die, embossing plate and then run it through your machine. I used a blender pen to add some fun colors to the ice cream truck and then did some embossing and die cutting for the sentiment.

My next card features the Sunshine Flowers Stamps and Dies and the Throwing Confetti Cover Plate.

I don't know much about flowers at all but I do love sunflowers and couldn't wait to color these beauties in. I added them to the background that I die cut with the Throwing Confetti Cover Plate and added to the card base with craft foam that I also cut from the cover plate. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of card stock cut with a circle die and then added that to the panel and trimmed off the edge.

Now it's time to hop along. Be sure to leave a comment at each stop for your chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to the SHOP.

Father's Day Card

Hi Everyone!
Father's Day is coming - have you made your card yet?
I've got a quick and easy card to share with you today.
I used Altenew's Best Dad Ever stamps and dies and did simple coloring with my Prismacolor pencil crayons. I cut a little slit in the mug and inserted the razor.
I stamped the sentiment in Midnight ink onto a piece of white cardstock that I die cut with a stitched rectangle die and adhered the stamped and colored images directly to the panel. I added a little shadow with a pencil crayon and adhered it all to a grey card base.

I'm playing along with the current Addicted to CAS challenge.

Summer Swirls at The Card Concept

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to another challenge at The Card Concept. This weeks inspiration photo is a hot air balloon and something I've always wanted to try. I think it would be amazing!

My card uses Catherine Pooler Designs stamps, dies and inks. If you've never checked out her products you should because they are excellent. Yes I am on her design team BUT I honestly believe that and would say it even if I wasn't on her team. Especially the inks! They are my go to inks for almost any project. You can learn all bout her inks HERE.

My card is super simple to make.
I stamped the background with Twilight Ink and The World Awaits Stamp Set.
The balloons are from the Love is in The Air stamp set and stamped with Rockin' RedLimoncello and Something Borrowed ink and then die cut with the Love is in The Air Dies. Next I stamped the basket with Black Jack ink. The baskets are much easier to line up after you die cut out the balloon.
I stamped the sentiment from The World Awaits with Midnight ink and then added all the balloons - some with craft foam for dimension.

I'd love it if you'd come and check out the rest of the design teams cards HERE and if you're feeling the urge to join us it would be awesome to see your cards in the gallery.

Grad Card Crazy

I'm going Grad Card Crazy right now and having a lot of fun doing it.
When you have a lot to make but don't want to mass produce the same card I strongly recommend clean and simple cards. I used minimal supplies and embellishments which helps to make the process go smoothly and quickly.

Besides the supplies listed below I also used Avery Elle's Hats Off stamp set, Taylored Expressions Class Of die and Cherry Cobbler card stock from Stampin' Up.

The googly eyes on this owl I picked up from a dollar store.

All the cards are pretty simple and straight forward but here's a link to another post where I did a card similar to this next one.

If you have any questions on these cards, please message me or leave a comment and I will be glad to answer them for you.

Stamp Out Cancer Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the Scrap'n Stamp hop to Stamp Out Cancer. The team and some guest designers have gotten together to spread the word about how important it is to be a strong advocate for your health and when you know something is wrong keep pushing until you get answers. Your health is too important not to.
In lieu of prizes for this hop, Scrap'n Stamp will be donating 10% from all the sales made this weekend - June 8th and 9th - to Push For Your Tush Fundraising Walk for Colon Cancer Canada in honor of team member Nancy Barnett Elrick.

You can read more about Nancy's story HERE and if you would like to donate to the Push For Your Tush Fundraising Walk For Colon Cancer Canada you can do that HERE.

I printed a free cancer ribbon image from Joanne Fink from Zenspirations for my card onto some watercolor paper. I love the words inside the ribbon and the message it sends. I stamped a sentiment from Beautiful Blessings 2 from MFT. The written font is beautiful! I did some simple ink smooshing with some distress oxide inks - I think that's my favorite technique onto the panel and onto another piece of watercolor paper. I tore one edge and layered everything together adding a small strip of b&w patterned paper.

I love how quick and easy this card was to make but more importantly I love the message.

Be sure to check out all the hops to see how everyone was inspired.

Happy Graduation

I work in a high school so it's safe to say that I need a few grad cards every year
and the WOO HOO stamp set from Sunny Studios is a set that I
reach for - a lot!

I used the MISTI from My Sweet Petunia. MISTI stands for the Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented and it is!
I cut a piece of white cardstock to 2 5/8 x 3 7/8" and placed it in the MISTI and repeatedly stamped the sentiment. Using the MISTI helps to get perfect placement every time.
These pics help to show it.
Use the grid lines on the paper to line up the stamp and pick the stamp up with the door.

Use the grid lines to measure how for up to move the paper for the next stamp.
Notice the two pencil arrows I drew. Keep moving the paper up and continue stamping until the paper is covered.

I stamped the cap and diploma and fussy cut them out - there are dies for this set but I don't happen to have them- yet - and did some simple coloring with some Prismacolor pencils. I used a tiny brad to add the hat to the stamped panel.
I adhered the stamped panel to a piece of black card stock and then adhered that piece with craft foam to the card base.

Now I need to make a few more.

I'm playing along with the challenge at Addicted to CAS where the theme is Graduation.
