Happy Mail

I was thrilled when I picked up my mail yesterday to see that the
embossing paste I'd ordered had arrived! I love happy mail!!
I've never used embossing paste before and I'd been waiting eagerly to play with it
I just have to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!
The texture that it gives a card is simply fantastic!!! And the fact that you can make
it any color you want - well that just makes me smile!

I used two or three drops of crumb cake ink and mixed into a little bit
of the paste. I used the Tim Holtz burlap stencil and a regular butter knife to
spread on the paste. When I pulled off the stencil I think I literally squealed
with delight.
After it dried, I decided to just layer things on, and make it a birthday card
since I seem to be needing those lately. I know I have a punch that would punch
those flowers out beautifully but I cut them out this time as I wanted very little of
the white showing on the edge.
Looking at it now I have another idea  :)

supplies
card stock: whisper white, crumb cake, pear pizzazz
stamp set: flower shop, something to celebrate
ink: pool party, calypso coral, crumb cake
stencil: burlap stencil (Tim Holtz)
punch: bird builder
embellishments: white embossing paste (Dreamweaver).
white baker's twine, center of flowers from dollar store

Walk in Sunshine

Today's card was made with one particular challenge in mind.
A sketch challenge at As You See It

This is a great sketch with so many possibilities!

Here you can see the inside of the card too. This is something I need to
do more of - I think it helps to take a card up a notch and finish it off. Also I
think it would have been great to do a little stamping on the envelope - next time
as this one is already on it's way to someone.

supplies:
card stock: lost lagoon, whisper white
stamp set: kind eclectic, something to celebrate, gorgeous grunge
ink: lost lagoon, hello honey, cherry cobbler
the tag: had it for years - sorry don't know who made it
embellishments: sequins (craft medley), basic pearls,
daffodil delight 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon

Happy Birthday LeAnne!

This week at Merry Monday the challenge is not a Christmas card. This week
the challenge is Anything Goes Birthday in honor of LeAnne Pugliese who is
celebrating  her birthday this week.

Happy Birthday LeAnne!!

I combined the birthday challenge with the Simon Says Emboss It challenge...

I used a really cute circle embossing folder for the background and then swiped the
versamark ink pad across it purposely not covering the whole thing. I then used
some bridal white embossing powder to achieve the shiny look.

...and the CAS-ual Fridays TIC-TAC-TOE challenge. For this card I went
diagonal - I used dots, white and sequins.

They're so many possibilities with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge that I may just
have to play some more.

I'm also submitting this to Cards in Envy for their Happy Birthday To You challenge.

supplies
card stock: whisper white, cherry cobbler

A Fresh Concept

I love the color challenge at The Card Concept and the sketch challenge
at Freshly Made Sketches and knew I had to combine them for this card.
I'm also playing along with the anything goes challenge at Less is More.

I love the colors on this challenge.
My first choice for lime was lucky limeade ink from SU but sadly I gave it away. So, I used pear pizzazz. For the aqua I chose to use coastal cabana.

The sketch made it easy to decide on a CAS style card. I think I may make a few
of these in different colors for a set.

supplies:
card stock: whisper white, pear pizzazz
stamp sets: tape it, flower shop, something to celebrate
inks: coastal cabana, pear pizzazz
punches: pansy, bird builder
embellishments: basic pearls

Beach Bum

Yesterday was supposed to be a behind the scenes work day for me.
I wanted to rearrange my craft room to get set up for workshops, get
classes and workshops organized for the next couple of months, work on
my blog - I still have SO MUCH to learn - but as I was working on y craft room I
came across some things I purchased YEARS ago and well, I got
sidetracked, and played for hours! It was a lot of fun!

Here's one of the cards.

I made it for a challenge over StampNation. They are having a week long
challenge over there - every day is a new challenge. It's called the
StampNation Beach Vacation. All the challenges are beach/water inspired.
It's been a lot of fun.
I thought I would also enter this into some 'anything goes' challenges.

More Merry Monday

I had so much fun with the Merry Monday challenge this week that I made
2 more cards. The challenge is to use buttons and ribbon on your card.

I took some creative liberties with the first one.  Instead of buttons I used
sequins and instead of ribbon I used baker's twine. I used a piece of card stock
from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit from Stampin' Up.

The second one I kept really simple - I did use a button but I don't generally use
ribbon on my cards but I do LOVE baker's twine so guess what - I used it again.

supplies
all from Stampin' Up unless noted
1st card
card stock: whisper white, cherry cobbler
dsp: be of good cheer
hip hip hooray card kit
stamp set: jolly & joyful sentiments (lil' inkers)
ink: memento black
big shot: stars, stripes (EF), joy word die (lil' inkers)
embellishments: cherry cobbler baker's twine, sequins (craft medley)

2nd card
card stock: whisper white, cherry cobbler, crumb cake
dsp: be of good cheer

Did you get your fruit today?

I have another post for you today. There's a challenge over a
StaImpNation to use fruits and veggies on your card. It took me a
while to play along with this one - thankfully the challenges there
never end - as I don't have much in the way of fruits and veggie stamps.
So I took to the internet and found some digi images on Pinterest.

I grabbed my blendabilities and started coloring. I am LOVING those
pens - they make coloring so much MORE fun!!
I'm thinking I might make the second card a birthday card for someone
who loves to garden - not sure yet so I haven't added anything.

A Rainy Day

Talk about a slow start to my day!
It's been raining here - actually pouring - but it was much needed
for all the fires that are happening. Unfortunately it brought some
power outages and flooding. I was planning on driving to the city
today but some of the roads are closed - so it's a home day.
All this rain has meant that I haven't been able to photograph my
cards since I normally do that outside. I think I figured out a
way to get nice photos inside without a flash - well, reasonably nice.

I decided to give myself two challenges with this card - to make a card
about weather (since we're experiencing extreme weather right now) and
to use primary colors.

I am submitting this card into the following challenges

supplies:
card stock: whisper white, basic black
digi image: found on pinterest
blendabilities: daffodil delight, cherry cobbler
markers: marina mist, pool party, blush blossom

last week while I was away but I think I made up for it yesterday. I made 4!

combined with the Merry Monday challenge to use buttons and ribbon.
(I used baker's twine - hope that counts as ribbon)

stamp set: jolly & joyful sentiments (lil' inkers)

Off to the Beach!

I'm off to the beach!
Over at StampNation it's a week-long beach party. Every day there is a
new challenge that has to do with the beach. So. Much. Fun.

My first card is for the first challenge. This challenge was to show what you
take to the beach with you. Well, to be honest with you, I don't go to the beach
much as I tend to burn very easily and I'm not a fan of hot weather. I like a shady
spot and a good book! But when the girls were little I'd take them all the time and
they always had to have a pail and a shovel and a beach ball. They LOVED to
collect shells too so when I saw this digital image I knew this was the one to use.

This second card is for - you guessed it - the second challenge. This time
we were to create a card that reminded us of a sunset on the beach. I'm not
sure I've got the sunset thing happening right - it looks more like a moon.
Maybe it's a sunrise? I think I need to watch more sunsets!

These were both really fun cards to make. I especially like the first one as it
reminded me of some very fun times with my girls.

The third challenge went up today and that challenge is to show how you
relax at the beach. Can't wait to play along with that one!

supplies:
1st card:
card stock: whisper white, basic black, marina mist
image: free digi image found online at Beary Wishes
stamp set: happy harmony
blendabilities: cherry cobbler, daffodil delight, pumpkin pie
other ink: marina mist, pool party, soft sky, blushing bride,
pink pirouette, crumb cake, sahara sand, so saffron, memento black

2nd card:
card stock: whisper white, basic black
stamp set: wetlands
ink: melon mambo, calypso coral, daffodil delight, marina mist,
crumb cake, sahara sand, memento black,

Everyday Occasions

I bought one of these kits from Stampin' Up recently knowing I was going to be out
of town this week and thought this would be perfect to take along. And it was.
Everything you need to make cards is in it. All you need to add is your adhesive
of choice. There is enough supplies in the kit to make 20 cards!
There is even a flyer that has all kinds of samples.

The other reason I bought the kit was simply just to try it out. See what they
were like so I could talk about it with customers. I'm really glad I did!
Here are a few that I made this week. I used the sample sheet as a guideline
and made my own 'tweeks' to it. You may even notice on one of the cards I added
a flower that I colored with Stampin' Up Blendabilities earlier this week.

These kits would also make a great gift for someone new to stamping. They
are different kits available too. I bought another one that I'll share with you tomorrow.

Life's Possibilities

Today's card is all about life's possibilities - to always dream of being more!
I am entering this card in a OLC challenge over at CAS on Sunday.

I was also going to enter it into a couple other challenges but I got busy and missed
the deadline for those - oops.

One layer cards used to scare me - I never knew how to achieve what I wanted with
only one layer. I have learned a lot in the past year from some wonderful ladies over at StampNation. So much so that I find I am making more OLC's than I ever would have thought I'd be making.

The classroom over at StampNation is full of wonderfully informative and
easy to follow lessons that will have you making OLC's in no time. I urge
you to check it out!!

supplies:
card stock: whisper white
stamp sets: Kinda Eclectic, Life's Possibilities (Tim Holtz)
ink: so saffron, basic gray, soft sky

Happy Birthday Lady (bug)!

A friend of mine turns 40 today - Happy Birthday Leanne!
Instead of celebrating 40 last night they said good-bye to 39 and
there was a ladybug theme to the evening. Of course I had to
make a ladybug card.

Here's how to make a lady bug
 1 3/4" circle punch - 1 red and 1 black piece
1" circle punch - 1 black piece
3/16" crop-adile - punch 7 pieces
cut the red piece in half
sponge the edges of the red with basic black
adhere to the larger black circle overlapping top edge slightly
adhere to the the 1" circle
adhere the 7 little circles in a random pattern
I used black hemp for the antennae and adhered that with a glue dot.
I then added the ladybugs with dimensionals to a piece of pool party
core-dinations card stock that I ran through the big shot using the
cloudy day embossing folder and then I sanded it a little.

supplies:
card stock: real red, basic black, whisper white
pool party core-dinations
stamp set: something to celebrate
ink: basic black
punches: 1 3/4" circle, 1" circle
crop-adile
big shot: cloudy day EF

You're Never Too Old to Color!

I am out of town this week, staying at my Mom's while she recovers from surgery.
She has a beautiful place with a private beach but
no craft room
My husband jokingly said that I was going to go through withdrawals
while I was away, but I planned ahead! I stamped a bunch of different images and
brought along my blendabilities to play with. I now have 4 sets - cherry cobbler,
old olive, daffodil delight and pumpkin pie.

I am LOVING these things! They really are very easy to work with and I can't wait to
get more colors.

Playing with Pals

I decided to get out the retired Fox and Friends to play along with the color
challenge over at Pals Paper Arts

I love these little 'pals' but for some reason I never played with them very
much. Not sure why that is because they are adorable. I mean, just look at
that grin on the whales face - doesn't he look like he's up to something?

I noticed after I stamped the first image that my night of navy is in need of some
re-inking but I was liking the slightly uneven look it was giving so I decided to wait.
The DSP is from one of Stampin' Ups new DSP packs called Sweet Taffy. I thought the different shades of daffodil delight worked perfectly with this card.

supplies
card stock: whisper white, night of navy
dsp: sweet taffy
stamp sets: fox & friends, swirls & curls versus
ink: night of navy, daffodil delight
embellishments: lace doily

CAS-ual Hearts

Today's card is for a challenge at CAS-ual Fridays. LOVE their products!
The challenge is to create a clean and simple project that uses hearts
 in summer colors.

The greeting on this card reminds me of the song 'Nights in White Satin'
by the Moody Blues. I actually have it playing while I write this - great song!

I decided to make another card - not for the challenge - just because I
love the stamp set. It's called Loving Thoughts and of course it's from
