Hello and welcome to another hop with Scrap'n Stamp Canada. This month we are all using Gel Pens on our projects. I've never used gel pens on a card before for more than highlighting but I did a little research (looking around Pinterest) and found that you can watercolor with them so that's what I did.
If you've been wanting to play with gel pens but haven't purchased any yet the 20% OFF sale on all things Sakura is the perfect time to get some pens and give it a try.
I started by embossing part of the beautiful floral image from Pinkfresh Studios Miss Your Smile Stamp Set with white embossing powder onto some white card stock. To color the image I added a little bit of color from the Galaxy Pack of gelly roll pens - I used the pink and purple pens for the flowers - to the base of the flower and then using a water brush I pulled the color out. I repeated the process until I had added color to all the flowers and then did the same for the leaves.
Once everything was dry I repeated the process but didn't blend the color out as far. I decided I wanted some darker areas on the tips of some of the petals so I added color there and then blended it back into the flower.
I used the blue gelly roll pen from the Galaxy Pack to add the shading around the image.
I had heard that these pens look beautiful on black card stock so I thought i would recreate the same card on black card stock. I have to say I'm not a fan. I love the pens but not how they look on the black card stock.
I colored this card using the same colors as on the white card but I didn't add the blue around the image. I cut both panels using the second largest die in the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Die Set.
On the first card I embossed the sentiment onto a piece of black card stock and on this card I embossed it directly onto the panel.
I added both panels to a white card base using craft foam.
Time to Hop!!
