Feeling Tropical

March is here and the weather is still too cold for me.
This morning was -6C which is better than some days have been but I'm ready for Spring!

For the first of the weekly Canvo spreads for March I continued with the tropical feel that I did on my
monthly spread HERE

I started by drawing in the boxes in pencil. Next I laid some stamps onto the page to get a feel for what I was going to do. I used a couple of sets from Catherine Poolers SOA Tropically Yours Collection. I pulled out some inks and set about stamping. I stamped the flamingos and the grasses in Midnight ink and used Be Mine, Coral Cabana and Samba to color them in using a blender pen. The beak is colored in with Tiki Torch.
I stamped the palm trees with Grass skirt and Eucalyptus. What I did was ink up the palm leaves first with Grass skirt, stamped it off once and then inked it up with the Eucalyptus. It gives a subtle two tone look to the leaves. The trunks were stamped in Over Coffee and shaded with a brown pencil crayon.
I debated back and forth about adding more trees or adding sand with some water in the background or adding some coconuts... what to do, what to do?
I didn't want to spend a lot of time on this page as I have a long list of things to do today so I added some simple ink blending.
I used Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Inks for the bottom. I chose those colors and that medium simply because they were on my desk.
The top of the page is blended with Tiki Torch and Limencello inks.

I normally keep my weekly spreads pretty simple and to one page. The other page is used as a Brain Dump area and for notes for upcoming events. I was finding that sometimes I was getting a little limited on writing space for the days of the week so I thought I would try a two page spread. We'll see how it goes and if I miss the Brain Dump section.
I'll let you know.
But one thing's for sure.
I feel warmer just looking at this spread :)

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
