INK SMOOSHING, DIE CUTTING, EMBOSSING OH MY

Ink Smooshing, embossing, embossing with a die, ink blending, ink swiping and die cutting. These are all the things I did on this card.
If you're looking at the leaf on the top right and thinking your vision is blurry, don't worry, you're fine. I stamped the embossing ink layer twice but bumped the paper. I embossed it anyway and decided I like it but looking at it now makes me a little dizzy lol.

I started with ink smooshing. I love, love, love doing this. I used a large piece of watercolor paper and Wintergreen, Seafoam, Sea Glass and Bay Breeze inks. I squished some ink onto a large stamping block, spritzed it with some water then normally I would pounce the paper into the ink but this time I took the block and pressed it around the paper. Because it's a clear block it allowed me to see where the ink was going.
Next, I used the three holly dies from the Jolly Holly Die Set and cut out a LOT of leaves and used 3 of them on this card but first I stamped on the second layer and embossed it with white embossing powder.

I used the two large dies from the Postage Stamp Die set to make the panel for the holly. I used the oval die from the Ex Libris Die Set cutting it out twice using the inside piece with one of them. The top layer I added Aquatini ink to and I embossed the bottom layer with the Cosmic Cover Plate Die then swiped some Cranberry ink across the top. I added a piece of vellum over the embossed layer then added the Aquatini piece to it. I adhered that to the panel, placed the holly leaves using foam squares for the outer edges. I stamped and cut some berries and a bow, embossed a simple sentiment and adhered everything to a white card base.

There's definitely a lot going on with this card but keeping a simple color palette and lots of white space makes it appear less busy.

Thanks so much for spending a part of your day with me.

Take care,
Susan
