A PATCHWORK QUILT FOR MOM

My laptop is working again. YAY!!!!
I have to tell you - that was scary. When I spilt my tea onto my laptop my hubby and I jumped into action. We moved FAST!! He ran for paper towels - I need to keep some in my craft room - and I grabbed my laptop and turned it over. We quickly cleaned it all up, I lost the three cards I shared yesterday - totally ruined but that's okay. I can make them again. Four other cards were damaged but I can salvage them into other cards.
I surprised myself with how calm I was about it all, after the initial freak out. I had a feeling it would be fine in the morning and luckily it was. On the plus side I learned to do a blog post on my phone that I didn't know I could do.

My card today is about comfort.

When I was a kid my Grandma made each of her grandkids a quilt. She had 8 grandkids but made 9 quilts so that the last child choosing actually had a choice. They were beautiful and I held on to mine as long as I could. It was literally in shreds when my husband finally convinced me I needed to let it go. Whenever I wasn't feeling well, I used that quilt. It was a comfort for sure and I miss it.
I used the smallest die in the Stitched Squares Die Set to cut some squares from all the papers in the Happy Mama Patterned Paper Pack. I adhered them all onto a piece of white card stock then cut it with the large stitched rectangle in the Postage Stamp Die Set. Next I took an eraser and rubbed it all over the panel. This took away a lot of the color and helped to make it look like an old patchwork quilt. It truly does remind me of the one my Grandma made.

I adhered the panel to a white card base using some craft foam. Next I used the Fresh Picked Floral Stamps and coordinating dies for the bouquet. I kept the colors really simple on the flowers because there's so much color and pattern in the papers.

I used the Just Mom Word Die and cut the word mom from some more patterned paper then adhered it to the card with more craft foam.

I adhered all the stamped images into a bouquet popping one of the flowers up with craft foam. I scattered some of the Helsinki Sequin Mix around the card to finish it off.

I absolutely LOVE this bundle. Today's card made me think about my Grandma and the quilts she made for us as kids. She made us queen size quilts when we were older and again made 9 so the last one choosing actually had a choice. AND she made all these quilts by hand with very little eye sight. They were beautiful!
The sentiments in the Mothers & Daughters Sentiments Stamp Set is what inspired the tag album I made. You can see that HERE. Choosing pics of our daughters for that album was a wonderful trip down memory lane.
