THIS SCRAP'N STAMP HOP IS FOR THE BIRDS

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Scrap'n Stamp September hop. This month it's For The Birds (lol this title cracks me up).

As usual there is a $50 Gift Certificate to the Scrap'n Stamp Shop up for grabs. We ask that you leave a comment at all the stops along the hop and we will choose a winner from all the comments. The sale this weekend is also for the birds lol. The Scrap'n Stamp store is offering 20% selected bird themed items

AND there's a Back to School Special of 20% off all markers and pens. These sales both end Sunday Sept. 5th

Now that the business side of the hop is taken care of, let's talk about the card. I had soooo much fun making it. I used Tim Holtz' Bird Crazy stamp set and some of the accessories from the Crazy Things stamp set. The sentiment is from the Crazy Talk stamp set.

I started with a card panel that I cut using the Picket Fence Slim Line Die Cutting System and the Say it With Stamps Grass Border Stencil. I used Peeled Paint and Iced Spruce Distress Oxide inks to blend on a little bit of grass.

Next I stamped the birds then covered them with some masking paper and set about making the sky. I started at the grass edge and added the  Distress Oxide inks in the following order; Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Faded Jeans and Prize Ribbon. I blended a little Black Soot Distress ink around the top and side edges then added some water droplets and quickly dried them to get the starry look. I admit it looks more like snow and where I used to live we would often get snow on Halloween so it's stars or snow - whatever you want it to be.

I peeled off the bird masks and colored them in with Prismacolor pencils. I kept it really simple - lighter in the middle and darker on the edges. Next I stamped the pumpkin 'bags' onto the card then onto card stock that I had added Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink to. I cut the pumpkin portion out then added them over the stamped pumpkins on the card. I did it this way because I didn't want to mask them off to do the background - this way was much easier.
Next I stamped and cut out some of the accessories, colored them in with Prismacolor pencils and adhered them to the birds for their costumes.
The sentiment is heat embossed with white onto black card stock then popped up with strips of black card stock. I didn't want white craft foam to be seen so I used black card stock.

I added it all to a white card base and now these trick or treaters are ready to have some fun!

Are you ready to hop and have some more fun?
Kia is up next.
If you've missed stops they're all listed below for you.

Wow - this card is awesome! It reminds that I should think out of the box when using my favourite stamp sets. I wouldn’t look at Crazy Birds and think Halloween, but now I do. I love how you blended all those colours into such a spooky background!
