My card today uses My Favorite Things It's a Mice Time To Celebrate stamp set - there's also coordinating die for it which I might just have to get soon. I started with a panel of Lawn Fawn White card stock cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die then stamped the sentiment along the long side. Next I stamped the dancing mouse.
This is when I decided the mouse needed a little something so I used another image from the same set and masked off the portion I didn't want then inked up the balloon portion. I stamped it so that it appears to be tied to the tail. I used a fine tip black marker to draw on the bow portion.
Now to add some color. I decided to use my very neglected Copic markers. They're neglected because I'm not very good with them but I won't get better if I don't use them right?
I kept the coloring really simple - using 2 or 3 shades of each color I start with the lightest one, then work my way up to the darker ones keeping the darker shades to the outer edges where there's more likely to be shadows. Then I work my way back to the lightest color being sure to blend them together. Make sense?
To finish the card I figured out where the panel was going to go then before adding it I stamped another sentiment onto the card base. I added the panel with some craft foam for dimension.
Now it's time to HOP!
Before you go be sure to leave me a comment for a chance to win the $50 Gift Certificate I mentioned above. Let me know what your favorite style of card making is - mine started out very differently from what it is now. I am definitely more of a clean and simple card maker but I do like to try all styles.
