A COLORFUL BIRTHDAY AND A FREEBIE!

I was cleaning up the last craft-astrophie when I saw a few leftover pieces of patterned paper sitting on my desk that caught my eye. I decided to put them all together onto one card.

While I loved the look of all that pattern it was a little busy for me. So to soften it a bit I made a white panel big enough to tone down the busy-ness but small enough to still see it all.
I used the little birthday candle that you see in the stamp set above and my MISTI to make the long candles you see on the card.

I positioned the stamp so that it would be in the middle of the top row of candles (the green one), inked it up and stamped it onto the panel. I left the stamp and moved the paper over to the left to stamp the next candle on the right and then repeated it for the next one.
I lined the paper back up to the stamp in the candle in the middle then moved the paper to the right to stamp the candles on the left.

I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap piece of card stock, layered it onto some black card stock then positioned it onto the panel and drew a line for where the bottom of it would be.
To stamp the bottom of the candles I moved the card stock up in my MISTI and then repeated the same process as I used for the top of the candles.
I colored them in rainbow order, used a white paint pen to add some lines and dots then added the sentiment.
The small candle in the stamp set now has the appearance of a long candle.
I adhered the sentiment piece, cut it with a stitched rectangle die and then adhered it to the card base with craft foam.
