Cover Plate Fun with StampNation & a GIVEAWAY!

Catherine and Erika hosted a fun Coffee and Cards Live Event along with some of the Brand Ambassadors over on StampNation.  If you're not a StampNation member but want to learn more about it click HERE. The theme was cover plates and they all shared some super fun techniques. The live happened earlier today but you can watch the replay.

I used the Stained Glass Cover Plate for my card today. I paired it with 2 new embossing powders -Grape Crush and All That Jazz which are part of the Forever 13 Embossing trio by WOW (the other powder in the trio is Be Mine), and the Smile Die.

I ran the die through my die cutting machine with white card stock. I separated the frame from all the little bits and inked up the frame with versamark and then heat set it with black embossing powder. I purposely did not get solid coverage as I was wanting it to look old. When it cooled I sponged on some Over Coffee Ink to help give it an aged look.

I started embossing all the little pieces individually but quickly realized that wasn't such a good idea for two reasons. The first was I wasn't getting the best coverage - the two pink looking areas in the middle are actually grape crush but the pieces were too small and holding them to emboss was too hard. The second reason was it was taking FOREVER and I had other things I wanted to do today.

So I grabbed two pieces of white card stock, inked them up with versamark ink and poured Grape Crush EP on one and All That Jazz on the other. I heat set them and ran them through my die-cutting machine with the cover plate. SO MUCH EASIER!

I simply inserted the pieces into the frame and then added the sentiment with craft foam that I had cut from white and black card stock. I forgot to mention - the first thing I did was covered the front of the card with a sheet of Stick-it. This meant I didn't have to glue each piece on individually - so much easier.

New ideas. Wouldn’t have thought to use the Stick-it on the front so you don’t have to glue all the pieces. Thanks so much
