A WARM THANK YOU

It's cold (-10C) and windy and dark and snowy and a perfect day to make a card that makes you feel like you're warm and sunny. So that's what I did.
What's warmer than the hot sun in a desert full of cacti?

I used Catherine Pooler Designs products. Her inks are AMAZING! I love stamping with them - the colors in the Spa Collection are my favorites - the colors are true to what you see on the lids, they have solid coverage, you can color and watercolor with them and I find they're great for ink blending techniques too.

All the colors in the pic below are from the Spa Collection except for Tiara which is from the Party Collection

I started with the Twisted Sunburst Stencil, some white cardstock and the Mini Ink Blending Tool from Tim Holtz. I like to use this one with this stencil because after I finish blending on the rays I ink up the tool and squish it down to make the hot sun. I like the blurred edges it gives.
Next I stamped out some cacti from the Wanna Hug Stamp Set using Midnight Ink. I colored them all in using a blender pen and some Green Tea Ink. I stamped two aloe plants with Green Tea ink as well and then cut them all out with the coordinating Wanna Hug Dies
I cut the sun piece with the largest straight stitched rectangle die from the Postage Stamp Dies (I use this one a lot), and then using the same die I cut a piece of kraft cardstock for the sand. I tore an edge and then adhered it to the bottom of the sun panel.
I added all the cacti popping the aloe plant in the front up with craft foam. I stamped the sentiment from the For Everything Stamp Set (this is a great one to have in your collection) with Midnight ink and then I stamped out a few of the little flowers from the Wanna Hug Stamp Set, cut them out with the coordinating die, added them to the cacti and called this one done.

The sound of the wind is stressing my dog out. I'm pretty sure she won't be getting her walk today. It's -11C now and according to Environment Canada it's going to keep dropping. Perfect excuse to stay in my craft room today.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
