WORK & PLAY with ART IMPRESSIONS

I am such a fan of ART IMPRESSIONS STAMPS and was beyond thrilled to receive these two new sets in the mail yesterday. Thank you!!! As soon as I got home from work I went straight to my craft room and played. I knew exactly what I was going to do for my first card - well, not exactly but I had a good idea.

I had to make this card because my husband and I have had two things on our minds lately. Retirement and a vacation. Well, last night he booked us a vacation to somewhere hot and sunny- so one out of two isn't bad.

I used my MISTI to stamp the image - not because I wasn't sure of how it would stamp but because I was coloring with my Prismacolor pencils and I like to re-stamp the image after I'm done. You can lose the crispness of the black lines when coloring and be re-stamping the image it brings them back to life again.

I used the pencils you see in the photo above (not sure why one is going the opposite direction) to color the image that I had stamped onto Kraft cardstock. I used Kraft because I'm not very good at coloring skin - yet - and by doing this it kind of does the work for you.

When I use my pencil crayons I like to put down a layer of the lighter color, then add the darker color for shading and then I use a blending stump with a little (very little) bit of gamsol (blending solution) to move the color around. I am by no means an expert and have a LOT to learn but this works for me and it's very easy. (I listed all the colors below)
After coloring in the images I fussy cut them out leaving a little 'sand' under the chair. Next it was time to pull out that pile of patterned paper that I need to use up. I knew I had some 'water' themed ones in there that would be perfect. I cut a rectangle from one and a circle from another. I also used the same circle die to cut the bottom of the beach scene so it would fit perfectly onto the other circle piece.
I stamped the 'happy retirement' onto the same card stock as the base and layered it onto the water.  I used craft foam to add the circle to the water and the water is added directly to the card base.
