The team at Scrap'n Stamp Canada are having a ball playing with Distress inks today. I chose to play with Distress Oxides for my card. They have a unique layering ability that is so much fun to play with. And they make ink blending so easy!

Now, let's talk about my card and the cool technique I used to make the background.
I started with some watercolor paper and a stencil. I used a stencil with different size circles I found in my stash - not sure where it's from but I linked to one below that would be great to use. I laid it on the watercolor paper and then using an ink blending tool I blended Peeled Paint and Iced Spruce into the circles, heavier in some areas than others. Next I shifted the stencil the slightest bit and using my finger I rubbed on some Distress Micro Glaze. The thing to remember about Micro Glaze is that a little goes a long way.
Remove the stencil and now it's time for some ink smooshing - another fun technique. Choose some ink colors to smoosh onto a craft mat and give them a spritz or 5 of water. I chose to work with two colors at a time. Pounce the paper into the ink and with a paper towel dab the ink away from the circles. The Micro Glaze stops the ink from soaking in to the paper - how cool is that! Use a heat gun to dry the rest of the ink and then choose another color or two and repeat the process. Remember when I said they have a unique layering ability - if you were to keep layering inks on top of inks you would normally get something that looks like mud but with Distress Oxide inks you can actually see the colors on top of each other - just be sure to dry thoroughly between each layer. I cut a panel using a stitched rectangle die.
To finish the card I stamped two mugs from the Coffee Understands stamp set and colored it in with more Distress Oxide inks and a blender pen. I stamped the sentiment from the Coffee Break Stamp Set, cut it apart and sponged the edges. I adhered the mugs and the sentiment with craft foam to the panel and then with more craft foam I added the panel to the card base.
