It's really hard to pick a favorite from Catherine Pooler Designs It's All About Christmas Release but for me it may just be the Vintage Baubles Background stamp. I've had so much fun making cards with this stamp and today I'm going to share one I made doing some ink smooshing. I love this technique!! It's fun, it's easy and you never get the same results twice which is exciting.
I used the new Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set for the sentiment and two of the recently released Color Bursts to do the ink smooshing.
I started with a piece of watercolor card stock that was a little bigger than the stamp and stamped the Vintage Baubles stamp that I had generously covered with versamark ink onto it. Next I poured on some WOW white embossing powder and heat set that with my heat gun.
I added some Limoncello and Samba Color Burst powders onto my craft mat, gave it a few sprays of water and then set about pressing my stamped piece into the puddles of ink. If you've never tried this technique here's a tip that someone gave me and I found very helpful. Start with light, small pounces and look at it after each one. You can always add more ink to the paper but it's harder to take it away.
I like to do a few pounces in different areas and then heat set it. I repeat that until I like how it looks. If you do it this way be sure to move your heat gun around, if you keep it still for too long in one area you can reactivate the embossing powder and make it a mess. Yes, I learned that tip by making a mess lol.
When it was dry I die cut a piece using the rounded rectangle from the Concentric Circles Die and added it to a card panel with some craft foam. I kept the sentiment really simple and just heat embossed it with the same white embossing powder onto midnight card stock. I fussy cut around the words and added that to the card with craft foam.
Don't forget about the FREE GIFT. Catherine is giving away a really cute stamp on all orders $35 and over - but this is while supplies last.
Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
