When I lived on the coast and was needing a break from things I would often head to the ocean. I could feel myself relaxing the closer I got and as soon as I saw the ocean I felt 100x better. I can't explain it. I don't think it even needs explaining. It's just very soothing. I don't often get to the ocean anymore but I do live just a 5 minute drive from a beautiful lake and thankfully that has the same effect.
I made this card thinking about walking the Sea Wall in Stanley Park in Vancouver. If you've never been there you should put it on your bucket list - it's beautiful!
Anyways, back to the card.
I used the By The Sea Stamp and Die set which is only available to StampNation members. One of the MANY perks of being a member.
I started with a piece of white card stock that I did some ink blending on. I used the Twisted Sunburst Stencil and blended it lightly with Tiki Torch and Tutti Frutti inks. Next I cut it with the large straight stitched die from the Postage Stamp Dies. I stamped the lighthouse from the By The Sea Stamp set with Black Jack ink, colored it in with a blender pen and Peppermint Scrub and Sand Castle inks and cut it out with the coordinating die.
To make the water I used Aquatini and Mardi Gras inks. I used a paint brush but no water and lightly dragged the color onto the paper with the brush, building out the color until I was happy. I then went over it with a sparkle pen and because it's a liquid of sorts it blended the inks together and softened the look even more. I cut it with the same die from the Postage Stamp Die set and with a torn scrap of grey card stock for rocks I went about building my scene.
I stamped the sentiment from the Vitamin Sea Stamp Set with Midnight ink and then adhered it with craft foam to a white card base that I added a piece of torn Sand Dunes card stock to for sand.
Where do you like to go when you need a break from things and need to calm your soul?
Leave me a comment, I'd love to know.
