One Layer Happy Birthday Card

Hi Everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful summer and
enjoying heaps of ice cream. I can't eat ice cream but I love making ice cream cards with
the Hello Sunshine Release from Catherine Pooler Designs.

I made a one layer card today - not something I do often but I do love to do them. I started by stamping the ice cream truck from the I Scream You Scream Stamp Set and then making a mask of the truck. To make a mask stamp the image onto some masking paper. When you're cutting it out cut just inside the stamped lines - this will ensure that the next image you stamp will touch up against the image you are masking.
I covered the truck because I wanted that to be in the foreground. Next I die cut the Sunburst Die also from Catherine Pooler Designs from a piece of card stock - I'll use the sun on a different card but I used the piece that I cut it from to lay over my card and sponge on some Tiara and Tiki Torch inks to create the sun. When this was done I removed the mask, got out my Prismacolor pencils and colored in the truck. You could use any coloring medium you want but some will show through the back of your card. I didn't want anything to show through so I went with my colored pencils.

I stamped the Happy Birthday wonky on purpose. I wanted it to look as if someone in the truck has just hit the horn and the horn is saying Happy Birthday. Not sure that it worked too well but I like it.

I am submitting this to the Seize The Birthday challenge where the
theme is Sunshine.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Wow, great one-layer card! (Despite being a CAS girl, OLCs are intimidating!) I definitely think the sentiment works. Thanks for linking up with us at Seize the Birthday!

Thanks Lindsey :) I've always felt that OLC's weren't finished but I'm starting to embrace them ;)
