The theme for this months blog hop at Scrap'n Stamp is Background Check.
The team has come up with some really inspiring ideas for taking some plain white card stock and creating backgrounds for your cards.
I had such fun creating different backgrounds that I decided to share two cards with you instead of just one. Instead of using the bigger background stamps, I decided to use other items to make my background panels.
I used the same colors of Distress Oxide inks (listed below) for both cards and came up with two different looks. I used the Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool as a stamp and created a fun background. For the little circles I used the eraser from a mechanical pencil. I love how they turned out. The tiny dots are made with the tip of a jewel picker. A simple sentiment stamped in black and then matting it onto some black card stock finishes the panel off. I used some craft foam to add it to the card base.
My second card was a little more involved. I started by masking off some straight edges and then sponging on the same Distress Oxide inks as above. It was looking a little too much like a flag for me at this point so I sponged some Walnut Stain ink over the whole card. I inked up a small block as a stamp with some more of the Walnut Stain ink and stamped it around the edges. I used one of the stamps from the Concord & 9th Background Blocks and some more of the same ink to add some texture. The little square images are stamped with the back end of a tiny alphabet stamp.
The sentiment and the lily finish this card off.
