Hello Handsome

Someone posted on my card from yesterday that being a city dweller they couldn't identify with the "howdy" sentiment that I used and was wondering if I considered 'hello handsome, hello good-looking, hey host stuff...something like that?'. I want to be clear that I am not offended in any way by the comment but was inspired and accepted it as a challenge and made today's card.

All but the 'handsome' are from Catherine Pooler Designs and I've linked to everything below. For those of you that are in Canada I've also linked to a Canadian store for you.
If you have never used Catherine Pooler inks before I just want to say they are amazing!!! Click HERE to watch a video that will tell you all about the inks and what you can do with them. I reach for them ALL THE TIME.

Now for today's card.

I grew up in the city but haven't lived there in 18 years but I do visit often. One of my favorite things to do when I'm in the city (besides go to craft stores) is to go to coffee shops. I love how they look and feel - cozy and inviting - so I decided to make today's card a coffee (or chai if you prefer - I do) themed card.
One coffee shop I went to had a wall of words and it looked amazing. It was a little too busy for my card so I combined two background stamps and some ink blending for a softer look.
I used Sand Castle ink and the Plaid Background stamp first. I only inked up a portion of the stamp because I didn't want to cover the whole card. Next I used Over Coffee ink and the Love Note Background stamp which was part of the Adoring You SOA Collection from Catherine Pooler. I inked up a portion of that stamp and stamped it on top of the already stamped plaid. This was all stamped onto a white piece of cardstock that I die cut with the large stitched die from the Postage Stamp Dies. I sponged on some Over Coffee ink and then just on the edges I sponged some Icing on the Cake ink.

The 'hello' is cut from Midnight cardstock and adhered with some liquid glue. The mug is stamped with Daydream ink and the liquid in the cup is stamped with Over Coffee ink. I cut it out with the coordinating die and added some coffee beans that I stamped and die cut. I added this to the panel with craft foam for some dimension and then stamped a little bit of steam coming out of the mug.
I found the 'handsome' on a stamp set from Hero Arts. I did a little stamp surgery to just get the handsome part and stamped that with Midnight ink. I sponged the edges with some Icing on the Cake ink and then adhered that to the panel.

I layered the panel onto some Midnight cardstock cut just slightly bigger than the stamped panel. I added some craft foam and then adhered that to a white panel cut slightly larger than the black and then adhered the whole thing to a Sand Dunes card base.

I love how this card turned out.
Thank you for the challenge.

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!
