Happy Birthday?

The looks on the cats faces makes me think I should've put a question mark at the end of Happy Birthday. They don't look too sure about anything but for someone who doesn't love cats I love these ones. They look like they're at a party and scared of everything there.

I made this card for a 'Tag You're It' challenge over at StampNation. Someone makes a card and shares it. If you're inspired by it then you can tag yourself in to CASE the card and then you have 24 hours to make something and share it. And then someone tags themselves in on your card and so on....

The card I'm case-ing was made by a lady named Marion. She made a birthday card using birds and party hats with ink smooshing (my favorite technique right now which makes you wonder why I didn't use it on my card). The birds on her card looked like they were part of a conga line which I thought was really cute.

My cats look like they're scared of joining that conga line. 

The 3 things I case'd for my card are:

1. I used animals (cats instead of birds)

2. birthday card

3. party hats 

I used Tim Holtz Cat Chat stamp set along with his Things/Talk stamp set. First I stamped the cat in the center, covered it with masking paper and then stamped the other two. I masked the cat on the right and then stamped the gift so it would look like it was behind him. The hats and the other gift were stamped on separate paper and then cut out. I stamped 3 balloons and then drew strings down to their tails.

I colored everything in with my Prismacolor pencils. It didn't take too long. I set myself up with a movie on Netflix and was done before the movie was over. These images have all the shading stamped into them so you really don't have to do much.

The one thing about coloring with pencil crayons is the line detail of the images tend to soften as the crayons cover them up so I went back over everything with a fine-tip felt pen. That takes a little bit of time but it's worth it. Just be careful to always work so the part you just did is not underneath your hand because it will smudge. Ask me how I know that. I did it on this card. If that happens to you don't panic. Grab some fine sand paper and lightly rub the stained area. Depending on how bad the stain is you should be able to remove it all. My daughter looked at this card and she couldn't tell where I had smudged it.

I added a strip of patterned paper from Catherine Poolers Black Gala pack to the card base and then added the panel with craft foam.
