SO! MUCH! FUN!

StampNation has some awesome, very inspiring and very informative tutorials on mixed media. I love this form of art!

I started by brushing gesso onto some cardstock. Once it was dry I added the base colors with an ombre ink pad that I was gifted in a recent order from The Ink Road. It's a pink to orange pad called Backyard Table by Recollections and it's really pretty! I'll be looking at getting some more colors for sure.

The flowers and leaves that you see in the corners and on some edges are torn pieces of tissue paper that came in the box with my order. It's so pretty that I didn't want to get rid of it. I brushed some Ranger matte medium onto the back of the tissue paper, placed it onto the panel and then sealed it with some more matte medium. Next I went with a circle theme. White ink and a polka dot stencil, embossing paste and a falling snow stencil, white ink and a large circle lid - dip the edges of the lid in the ink and press it onto the paper - it's great. I did the same thing with a small circle lid and some Black Jack ink.
The sentiment was one I had made a long time ago and never used. It was sitting on my desk and thought it would fit this project. I added a piece of lace doily and some craft foam to the back and placed it over top of some linen thread that I placed in a loose pile.
I added some Tim Holtz word stickers to the panel along with a few lace flowers from Stampin' Up! that I've been hoarding for a long time. I saw a heart stamp in a dish on my desk and thought, why not, so I stamped a few of those and then finished it off with some pearls, some sequins, sponged edges and then added it to a card base with some craft foam.

I LOVE this card!
The colors make me happy - they make me think of spring - and there's so much to look at but it doesn't feel chaotic.

If you've never tried mixed media before I highly recommend it.

Thank you for explaining your process! The colors are beautiful and I love all the fun elements. The problem with creating this way for me is that I can't ever throw anything away because I can use it for texture, or color, or focal image, or embellishment!!!
