Feeling Joy!

This card brings me joy!

I've recently challenged myself to do more water coloring. I've always loved
seeing everyone's water color cards but never seemed to be able to mimic the look like I wanted. After watching a lot of PB&J (Penny Black & Jill Foster) tutorials - she's incredibly talented and a great teacher - I decided to give it a try.

I took some pictures of the procedure - hopefully this will give you an idea of how I made this card but you should definitely google Penny Black & Jill Foster and check her out.

I started by loading up my MISTI with some watercolor paper and a Penny Black stamp called Berry Kissed. It's a beautiful stamp. I used some Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink for the first pass of the stamp.

I used my Kuretake water colors and a #2 brush for the rest of the painting. I brushed the ink onto the stamp and then pressed it into the paper making sure to hold it still for a few seconds. I did this repeatedly, adding different shades of each color and then pressing into the paper.

I started painting directly onto the paper, still with the #2 brush, with browns for the finer details and to create some depth. There are some areas that turned out really well (if I don't say so myself), but there are definitely some areas that could be better. But that's where practicing will eventually pay off - I hope.

All in all, I love how this card turned out - it brings me joy!

Happy Stampin'
and thanks so much for visiting!

Really, really beautiful Susan! The carefully painted background very nicely compliments the leaves and berries. I especially like the leaves, quite life like. Well done!
