I woke up this morning wanting to make a Christmas card. I looked
knew right away what I wanted to do. It paired perfectly with the
challenge at Less is More to use jewel colors. I chose to use blues as they reminded me of the blue topaz jewelry my sis-in-law's mom
always wore.
You know when you make a card and you love it so much that you
want to share it with everyone - well that's how I feel about this one.
It's so simple, yet there's still so much going on! I lucked out with the
weather today and was able to take the picture outside with the sun
bringing the glitter from the Wink of Stella glitter pen and the sequins
to life.
My card is not completely true to the sketch but it's close. I moved the
sentiment up and added sequins to draw the eye down to where the
sentiment was originally intended to go.
I used the Simon Says Stitched Circle Dies finally. I've had them for at
least a month but for whatever reason I forgot about them until today???
I love the little extra detail the stitching gives to the card - there's two
rows of stitching - one on the circle piece itself and one on the piece the
circle is cut from (I hope that makes sense). I sponged the
circle piece with some Tim Holtz distress inks (peacock feathers,
salty ocean, broken china and chipped sapphire) and then decided to do
the inlaid die-cutting technique - again :)
The deer image is from the Stampin' Up's Jolly Christmas stamp set.
I've made a few cards with this set and will be sharing them with you
soon.
