Today's card is for a sketch challenge happening over at
StampNation right now.
I have been seeing a lot of the Inlaid Die-cutting technique lately and
have been eager to try it. Also, I have been getting requests for more
'man cards' so I thought this was the perfect time to play with all 3 ideas.
I have to say, I LOVE the look of the Inlaid Die-cutting technique and
will be doing more of that for sure. It's super easy too! Run your piece of
card stock through the big shot with the die you've chosen. Ink up the two pieces
with different inks and put them back together - it's that simple!
Of course, you know me, I sponged the edges of each piece in the darker shade
before I put them back together.
I used watercolor paper and sponged two different shades of green on the larger
piece and two different shades of blue on the smaller piece. I spritzed them
with some water and then used my heat gun to dry it. It didn't turn out quite like
I wanted it to, but I do like it. I think I need to use a distress ink for more of
a watercolor look but I don't have any - yet that is!
I chose to stamp a tree from the Lovely as a Tree set - and then I decided it
needed to be 'grunged up' a bit. I made the greeting using my label maker - love
that thing! I then added the 'tire track' stamp, a few stars and the black twine.
'Man cards' are something I often struggle with and have been challenging
myself to do more of. I'm very happy with how this one turned out.
