A Look Back - Day 2

I'm back with my favorites from the second half of 2015.
These were harder for me to choose so I have quite a few to share
with you. I feel like the second half of the year is when I really started
to feel comfortable with the CAS style and was able to create work that
I'm quite proud of.

These feature hand coloring, dry watercoloring, inlaid die-cutting,
embossed resist, watercoloring and paper piecing.

This is my all time favorite card from 2015 because this one was
a team effort with my husband. Hopefully he'll team up more
with me in 2016.

Whether you are stopping by for a look or leaving me a
comment - thank you for spending 2015 with me!
Your encouragement and support is truly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to 2016 and all that it holds in store.

Seize the Birthday

The challenge at Seize the Birthday is to make a birthday card using
red and white. I made some time today to play along.

I used the Balloon Builders stamp and die set from Lil' Inker Designs
along with some retired DSP from Stampin' Up! to create a
bouquet of balloons. I used Rose Red and Real Red inks also from
Stampin' Up! The greeting is embossed with white
embossing powder onto cherry cobbler card stock and
the background was made using the Lucky Stars embossing folder.

Please head on over to Seize the Birthday and check out
all the cards.

CAS Christmas Trees

Where did the time go?
It's been 10 days since I last blogged - is it me or does that sound
like a confession. The last week of school was really busy and
getting ready for Christmas with a sick daughter at home
has been a little crazy.
The plan is to go to my in-laws for the holidays but I'm
not sure she'll be up to travelling. It may be just her and I at home.

I have a quick card for you today and a great way to use up
some Christmas dsp you may have left.

This card fits with the current challenge at CASology where the
theme is Merry. I used the Holiday Flourishes stamp set from
The Ton - I love the font - it's an awesome set that has a
coordinating die - check them both out here. For the trees
I used an old favorite from My Creative Time called
Seasonal Greetings - it's a stamp and die set that is fantastic.

Christmas Card Challenge #2 Color Challenge

Christmas is almost upon us and this week's challenge is a great one to
help you get your cards made. I hope you'll get your supplies out and
play along with us at Christmas Card Challenges.

For my card I used the Holiday Flourishes stamp set from The Ton. I
used Stampin' Up! ink to stamp the leaves and berries and then cut
each piece out to create some mistletoe. I used dimensionals to
add the berries for a more 3D look. A few sparkly gems from
Lucy's Cards to finish it off.

I'm playing along with the following challenges:
Creatalicious Challenges - Merry Christmas
Craft Your Passion - anything goes
Artistic Inspirations - anything goes with a twist of Christmas
Crafting By Designs - anything goes

Peace & Comfort

I decided to take a break from Christmas cards today and
make something different. I didn't have a theme in mind
when I started out but it ended up a sympathy card.

I saw the sketch challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch and
thought instantly of a stencil that was part of Catherine Pooler's
Stamp of Approval collection box. It's perfect for the challenge.

I used Evergreen Bough, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers
distress inks from Tim Holtz to sponge the background.
The stamp set is called Beanstalks from CAS-ual Fridays -
I colored in the leaves with some of the same inks using a
blender pen.
A few sequins and some bakers twine finishes it off.

Big News!

I'm thrilled to share my big news with you today! I've been asked to
join the Christmas Card Challenges design team. Needless to say I'm
honored and very excited for this new adventure. Click here to meet the
new DT members.

We have a photo challenge for you this week. Check out those nails!
I can't imagine the hand control that would be needed to paint them.

Here's my card for the challenge.

I was inspired by the colors. The digi image is called Hello Snowman
from From The Heart. I chose him because he's cute and he's waving
hello - which is what I'm doing today too.

To find out what the challenge details are and to share your card, please
visit the Christmas Card Challenges blog.

A Birdbrain Christmas

I love the Birdbrain images that From The Heart have created. They
are so cute. This one is called Holly Jolly Christmas. The challenge
this week at Merry Monday is to make a card with any kind of bird
on it, so of course I thought of the Birdbrain birds. This one is called
Holly Jolly Christmas.

I used my blendabilities from Stampin' Up! and some pencil crayons
made by Staedtler to color the image. I stamped the sentiment, added
some glitter from a Wink of Stella glitter pen, a few sequins and it's done.

Be sure to head over to Merry Monday and check out all the cute cards.

A Team Effort

This card is probably my most favorite card I've ever made because
I made it with my husband.

He saw me coloring away on some images and said "you look so
relaxed when you color, maybe I should give it a try". He's very
talented with a pencil and a paint brush and I knew he would
enjoy the coloring process so I gave him the above image.  As
soon as he finished it I quickly put the card together.

I love the way this card turned out and he does too. I hope he
joins me in my craft room again soon :)

I'm (we're) playing along with the Christmas card challenge over
at CAS on Sunday. I hope you'll pop on over to the challenge and
check out all the cute cards!

Sparkle & Shine

It's an anything goes challenge at Christmas Card Challenges right
now. I was going to do an inlaid die-cutting technique and I did but I
added a twist. In the close-up below you'll see that all of one snowflake
is inlaid and then just part of the top one is. I like the way the top one
looks suspended above the card base.

The snowflake dies are from CAS-ual Fridays and coordinates with a
stamp set called Bring on the Snowflakes. Unfortunately, neither is
available just yet but believe me when I say they are GORGEOUS!!!
Make note of that name and watch for it - it is a set that you will most
definitely want to add to your collection!

CAS Christmas

The precious metals challenge at CAS-ual Fridays and the
dimension challenge at Addicted to CAS are prefect together.
Unfortunately the silver embossing doesn't show as well in the
photo as it looks in reality.

To give the snowflake dimension I die cut it from red, backed it with
white and added a rhinestone to the center. I used fun foam to raise
the tag and add even more dimension.
The sentiment is embossed with silver and the tag is tied with
silver metallic thread.

Merry & Bright

What do you do when you wake up at 4am and can't sleep? I head to
my craft room and play. I combined the Merry Monday color challenge
with the Can You Case It sketch challenge.

I water-colored the background with some Tim Holtz distress ink and
die cut the snow flakes from CASual Fridays out of corrugated paper
for some texture. The greeting is from Neat and Tangled. I was planning
on stopping here but decided I wanted to add some black and I liked
that the arrows on the dsp look like Christmas trees. Not sure if you can
tell but the all black strip is black glitter paper - much more sparkly in
person.

I'm also playing along with the following challenges:
Christmas Card Challenges - anything goes
AAA Cards - anything goes
Ooh-la-la creations - let it snow

A Foxy Christmas

I bought the Lawn Fawn Joy To The Woods stamp and die set over a
year ago and used it for the first time yesterday. When I saw the
challenge at Curtain Call was to use a fox on your card I decided it
was time to put this set to use.

When I showed my card to my husband he said 'how does the fox make
it Christmas card?' I said 'how does it not?'  He just smiled.

Make sure you pop over to the Curtain Call blog and check out all the
cards - there are some really cute ones! Actually, they're all pretty cute!

Oh Deer!

Oh deer, what fun I had today!
I combined a few challenges for this CAS Christmas card.
I used one of my favorite Christmas stamp/die sets from
My Creative Time - it's called Oh Deer and it's adorable!

I used the bubble stencil from Tim Holtz and some embossing
paste to create some falling snow. The card was almost finished
when I decided it needed something fun added to it. I decided
to add the santa hat from the Christmas Doggy stamp set from
My Creative Time. I think this might be my favorite card yet.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Inkspirational - photo inspiration
Merry Monday - use a deer
Uniko Studio - Christmas CAS
The Sisterhood of Crafters - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
CASology  - pretty
